Swap characters over episodes, Sherry a high-agility character based around small arms and agile moves, able to regenerate health thanks to her own infection, Jake a more conventional soldier who needs to use medkits, but has really big guns. Could even have some really creepy bits for the gurofags where Sherry needs to amputate herself for one reason or another.
I could see Platinum doing some freaky body horror stuff with Sherry, since her regeneration allows for a lot of weird shit to happen. Maybe she gets an arm blown off and then has to reattach it with somebody else's, like a bootleg surgery but even grosser.

Doesn't Jake have some weird viral quasi-immunity from his old man, or am I misremembering the plot of 6? If so, could explain why he's in there all by himself. Could also bring in Sherry as waifu bait since she too would be immune. "Yeah, its a total clusterfuck, but you two are the only ones who won't drop dead on the spot either from the virus or the hellspawn its created, so yeah, we're sending you in, but we'll stay in radio contact and airdrop supplies as needed."

I, for one, would be interested to see Capcom's unofficial prequel to Saya no Uta.

I am scared to ask, and yet I must. Just what the hell is that game?
An old guro visual novel about a guy who had some accident that fucks his brain up so bad he starts to see the whole world and the people in it as an eldritch meat monstrosity, with the notable exception of the obligatory female lead. It later turns out she's an eldritch abomination that's messing with his head, and things go very poorly for the setting and everyone in it.

Well, shit can we not have that?

I wouldn't mind another side story in Raccoon. Honestly, once the franchise got past Raccoon City is when I started to lose interest and shit just got ridiculous. What I really want but I know will never happen is a U.B.C.S. centered game but it doesn't suck.

We did get teased with The daughter's story has begun... or something to that effect at the end of RE8, and the fact its still modern day and Chris is still around implies she grew up fast.
Of course, that doesn't actually mean anything, but I'm always up for more Platinum stuff regardless. Go have Jake punch some evil clone of his old man to death or something. "T-Virus, son. My cells harden in response to physical trauma. You can't hurt me, Jake!"
Why do I get the feeling she's just going to be Eveline but good? Like maybe I'm super wrong, but I can see Capcom pulling that exact stunt.

Have Jake doing martial arts. Suplexing mutants and flashkicking giant abominations was the highpoint of their campaign.

Jake does. Specifically, immunity, or a huge resistance I can't remember which, to the new C-virus. So he doesn't turn into a guava J'avo. It's also fan speculation that Jake has enhanced senses from his father. So they may as well just play that to the hilt.

That actually does sound like a crazy fun idea. They're the only one's immune and it's up to them to put a stop to Shin-Neo-Umbrella 2.0. Jill can show up as well because she's essentially a walking anti-virus at this point.

As can I because its boring, predictable, and safe.
Although who the fuck knows just how powerful she actually is given Mold Mother screeched about losing her powers (to whom, I wonder...) during the boss fight and Ethan was apparently Mold driven by sheer willpower, so she was literally conceived as a Mold being.

Fair, but the guy was a mercenary in various third-world shitholes for most of his life, so him going ham with heavy weapons is also entirely appropriate.

Specifically, now that RE7 and 8 are "wrapped up", I don't think Capcom really has an idea on what to do next.
I worry they'll do the most obvious thing next and that's since 7 had similarities to 1 and 8 had similarities to 4, the obvious thing is for 9 to have similarities to 2 and 3, ie RE9 would be set in another Raccoon City type city, assuming they continue the first person style and don't veer off into a new style.

What I would like to see is them to continue in the direction of Castle Dimitrescu and Donna, RE8 was a pretty short game overall, still plenty more potential to mine out of dark, gothic locales and surreal horror where you're not sure what's real and what isn't.

Since they've hinted at some older, wider history to the Umbrella emblem than Umbrella corporation itself, maybe the next game should be the home base of whatever group that is? Like a better version of "The Family" idea from RE6, imagine a huge, sprawling castle complex that dwarfs Castle Dimitrescu.

I am a little worried, Resident Evil's been on a hot streak lately but the more time goes on the more likely it is it'll fall flat on it's face again, RE8 ends on such an open note where they could go anywhere from here, the pressure's going to be on for a follow up, hopefully they won't drop the ball.

While I want RE9 to have a different setting than a city, it would be cool to have a new spinoff game set in Raccoon City.

this is worse than new Jill 🤮

Thank god this isn't a new dino crisis, I'd be pissed

Japanese players are quite casual and don't like horror stuff. That's why games in Japan have censored scenes and easier difficulties. The director of Village surveyed gamers who said 7 was too scary to even play, so they had to dial back the horror. 8 is also noticably easier.

Result: RE has to balance out the camp, horror, and comedy to do well. It can't be constantly scary, since action scenes are expected. An action-focused game becomes too easy (unlimited ammo and item boxes).
Given 8 gave us the single most pants shittingly terrifying moment in recent franchise history, I still raise my eyebrows at Village being deemed less frightening.
I guess the basement part got them. Being hunted by Jack, very tight corridors and Moldeds coming at you from every corner.

It's too easy to kite around Lady D.
I think what they're talking about is that RE8 was not as GROSS as RE7.

From the very start when you're in that gross, nasty dilapidated house, RE7 has this really nasty, gross vibe to it, stuff you don't want to touch or get close to like maggots, wasps, that sort of thing, that's what RE8 toned down on, the evil fetus part aside.

If the Resident Evil 4 remake is real, I hope they don't add some Nemesis type monster chasing you everywhere or put it in first-person.

They could pull a 180° and make Rose the 'true' villian in the end, have Chris struggling to put her down after what hypothetically could be an entire game's worth of bonding

Not exactly something we havent seen before, but less expected than what we're getting
