I will forever give the zombie sharks a pass.

"We have successfully integrated the T-Virus with aquatic life!"

"So...wtf do we do with them?"

Even in-universe they gave Umbrella pause.
idk maybe someone's into that
Zombie sharks feels like a project made by someone that made Doom run on a coffee machine. I like the idea that aspects of Umbrella were left largely without c-suite input/supervision or adequate leadership so scientists just tried shit out to see what happens, kind of like chefs with a ton of high-grade ingredients goofing off.

RE1-3 actually tried to give somewhat of an explanation as to why the locations are filled with puzzles in each entry which is more than they had to do to be honest.
Yes they did. Some puzzles don't even feel like puzzles since they're more logical. But some are still those nonsense Spencer ones that I love dearly.
according that living toilet, Pat
I remember that in the LP but I dunno if that's actually a fact. And in the remaster, they tried to make her look even more like her? I hated they added more makeup on her and made her eyeballs impossibly reflective. All the reskins in the remasters are kinda ass. Billy has a weird squint in cutscenes. Jill has a lazy eye. Wesker's glasses are too transparent. If you side by side any character you can see how they overcooked them.

The skins they made don't fit the geometry. Jill's is the worst for some reason.

Best to remake a game thats not good and MAKE it good rather than redundantly remake an already GOAT-ed game like RE 4.

You dont remake the Mona Liza, you do remake that awful picture you made when you were 15 with the skills you have now as a 25 year old.
Yeah, agree completely. Even though I really enjoy the RE4 remake I still consider it totally unnecessary and an obvious attempt to milk a popular entry. Just surprised they weren't as cynical as I thought and did 6 first.

Look, I'll take a remake of 0 in a heartbeat under the assumption it isn't a thrown together disaster like 3make turned out to be, but still think that (barring a new mainline entry/non-remake obviously) CV is a better candidate because the game is much closer to being Good™ than 0 ever was. But maybe that works against it depending on your perspective. I just love these games and want more of them that are fun, is that too much to ask?

We've had a pretty good run so far ignoring the shotgun blast to the foot that Nemesis was, just hope that Capcom doesn't Capcom and regress to their worst tendencies when push comes to shove.

That's the thing about Zero and CV getting remakes. I really don't see how they would be viewed as negatively as the others have been generally when these two are looked at as the lesser of it's esteemed company.

Zero needs an entire new game system. It could be COOP which would change the game so to speak. Bring back the item box AND allow items on the floor. May as well go there to make everyone happy. Make Billy and Rebecca have a more vocal relationship. Leon and Claire barely interact at all in 2make. Change the monster designs. Hell even add some of the unused shit from that era. There's plenty of concept art to derive from.

CV has less shit on the floor to mop up. Just don't make it feel like shit to play and fix the pacing. Otherwise, the game is fine.

nonsensical puzzles
This one's out of place in your list, puzzles and horror went hand in hand forever. Part of this was probably to pad out length since the high fidelity of these games limited how much content they could fit on disc but it also is a good way to make you backtrack around a lot which is also crucial for maximizing the mechanics and content quantity.
As long as we don't get another five years of bitching about how Rebecca is less attractive, I'm not bothered tbh. None of the remakes have displaced the originals, just offered an alternative update.
Except the originals still arent easy to obtain (1-3 are on gog for now though)

I play RE3 99 a lot. So I haven't touched RE2 in sometime. Going back to it on the weekend, it feels so goddamn slow by comparison. The turning and run speed is so sluggish.

I got to the end and killed Mr X and then got distracted by my phone and forgot to pause it, and the timer hit zero lol.

Replayed through RE4 again with the HD Project mod. I gotta say, the game has aged remarkably well, and it is still a blast to play even after 20 years.

Should I move on to the Remake next? Or should I play through the RE2 and RE3 remakes first before I go to it?

Play 2 first if you're in a hurry. 3 doesn't add anything that you really need to know before 4.

RE0 is already a bad game. They couldn’t possibly make it any worse.
there is a good game in there.
i coukd deal with a lot of shit in it but dropping EVERYTHING and then dropping them in another safe space is a trash system, made even worse by the camera angle when trying to get what you need. worst thing is the hookshot; the existance of it makes any atempt to play it again go down the drain.

All accurate, but what's also terrible is that some items require two slots because reasons. If you're not going to give us a box, then let us carry more.

yeah that's why i hate the fucking hookshot, you need it at least twice on the game, once in the train and then once in the gondola.

gotten further in remake4 in vr, it starts to show the cracks that it's not made to be played like that when you get in the cabbin fight, the vr2 has trouble keeping up with the player position.

You also need it in Marcus's lab.

Using it once is once too many. It's so an god awful requirement for progression.

My only real fond memory of Zero is Billy is cool and so is the proto Tyrant because it's defective and busted.

I think Zero would have been a lot better if it took the camera system from Code Veronica. Instead of completely static it was able to shift around as needed. The Obscure games were janky but overall fun, especially with a friend in coop. It would have lost it's gorgeous prerendered backgrounds and used 3D models but I think the trade off would have been worth it. Zero could have been a lot more than the sum of its parts. Also the main character shouldn't have been Rebecca. It should have been another Bravo team member and retcon it where Billy and him run off to escape/hide from umbrella after discovering the truth. Make them both MIA or something. I want to love Zero so bad.
