It always stuns me that they couldn't think up a better name than 'NESTS 2'. They should of called it 'Trash Factory' or 'The Dump', it would of fit better.
What even was the point of that facility? The Dead Factory was the disposal facility of all their test subjects. I've only read the files once and they immediately flew out of my head because I didn't give a fuck.
Yeah, the physics for damaging zombies was altered to have less depth. Limb damage and gradual dismemberment are now gone. Head explosions are present, but will only happen with critical hits, which were also altered. Handgun-type weapons have a higher chance of scoring a decapitation than shotguns, despite that making zero sense. It's possible to get zero head explosions with a shotgun in an entire playthrough.

Talking about zombie physics reminded me of the hospital siege with Carlos. The RE Engine couldn't handle that many persistent corpses in a single area, so the developers altered the death animations, making zombies disappear in tiny red explosions accompanied by 'sploorch' sound effects. Super weird and immersion breaking. It also made me question why the devs would even include a zombie siege if they knew it didn't play to their engine's strengths.
The hospital siege is really trash and the dead giveaway they didn't know what to do with Carlos, since Nemesis doesn't return until the NEST section where as in the original the way back to the chapel you fight Nemesis Type II.

So many retards thinks Capcom will do a director's cut patch. Nigga, that game is long in their rear view mirror. Even if they did. Nemesis is still complete trash and Jill is a cunt. They couldn't even be asked to complete 2make, based on one of the most successful games of the series... you think they're going to patch a 5 year old game that wasn't nearly as big?

The only way to fix certain things is to outright remake this remake, aka, go back to the drawing board and put actual effort in it. You could have reinvented RE3 as an lite open world with different routes of where to go (thus you see different content). Ironically, many fan remake projects seem to understand RE3 better than Capcom ever did. Dont get me wrong, some of them have their own issues but it doesnt compare.

A clear weakness of the RE engine is that it cant handle having too many active elements at once. With something like REmake 2, we usually were in tight closed off locations so they were able to work with a smaller but better handled enemy count but the hospital siege not only is something that wasnt in the original but it felt like some of RE 4/5/6 sneaked into that game.

I unironically said when I was livestreaming this game for the first time "uh, guys, are you sure the engine can handle this sort of action? This is more akin to RE 4 !"

Its fine for the enemies to disappear if its like Mercenaries or something (which we didnt fucking get in RE3 remake despite it being the game that debuted the mode) but for the main campaign that tries to keep it grounded for the RE standards? Bleehh...

I joined resident evil quite late with the sixth entry and worked my way backwards to 1. It was interesting to see how the gameplay mechanics and atmosphere got closer to that of a horror film, away from the action heavy-handedness of six.

It is also a big help that the quick time events stopped after the third-person entries - I have never been a fan of those.

RE6 clearly should have been a musical

The point was to save money and reuse assets so Capcom didn't hav-

Oh, in game. Uhhh... Tyrant research? Testing to see if Umbrella brand coffee had a superior flavor compared to their competitors? New herb flavored ice cream?

Remember the cabin attack in RE4? They're trying to recreate that. Only without any tension or fun.

Does anyone have a Quest headset? I decided to cash in all my Amazon gift cards I've been hoarding so I can play RE4, and I've gotta say, it's like playing the game for the first time all over again. It's perfect for VR, way better than I thought it would be. I'm nearly through a 2nd Pro playthrough, 3 total, and if I never play another game for this thing then I'll still consider it a worthwhile purchase.

I haven't tried it out yet but I felt the same way when I got doom 3 for the PSVR

I decided to play thru 2make again recently and did both runs. I reaaaaally wanna like it but it's such a let down. I don't like any of the characters in it since they changed all their personalities. And once you're out of the RPD it feels so phoned in.

I've been getting the itch to play Zero. I really need to be in the mood for it, same with CVX.

I am not the only one who felt 2 "remake" was something that was not good enough for all the praise being thrown at it back then and even now, I see. When it came out, 2 was (and still is) my favorite and I was looking forward to seeing how they would recreate it - and also because they did a solid job with 1.

But everything felt really off, as if Capcom only took the basic details of what 2 was about and applied their very own stuff to it (but not enough to make people go "this isn't a remake of 2 at all!"). It was like a decent-enough third person horror game that was marketed as "resident evil 2 "remake"" and then bought by buyers who were none the wiser.

Claire and Leon barely interact, what you mentioned about the characters personalities and things being phoned in after the RPD - I'm sure it's been gone over here many times already. But I will say I felt this should have been a completely original game removed of anything resident evil instead of being sold as a "remake" fans have been wanting for so long.

It also doesn't help Capcom's image that they went and fucked over a better and more faithful fan project that was being worked on and which was looking to be much, MUCH more fitting to have the remake name.

I have not bothered with any of the following "remakes" since then.

Claire and Leon barely interact
This really fucking bothers me. There's several radio calls they update the other. What they did was leave notes for the other person lol. Real lazy fucking shit. 2nd run definitely was an after thought and not intended to be included until the last minute it seems.

I followed Rod Lima's project for years. But unfortunately he only did it as a learning tool to see if he could do it. He took all the Darkside Chronicles assets and built it into a game. It's cruel he never put that out.

It's just a dark hallway sim. But the RPD section was fantastic, and it would've been better if it was actually lit and not dark EVERYWHERE but the main hall.

Claire's journey falters. It could have been a lot better if it actually locked you out of certain items or doors depending on which scenario you were in, or if they swapped out Mr. X for Birkin 1 in Claire’s run.

But still: The routing through the RPD, and the presence of the "stalker" enemy—worthy of being a successor to RE1 remake. 3make and 4make strayed too far from the path.

I look at this and get a bit sad at what could have been.

Have you heard this interview with writer Brent Friedman? He talks about how 2 "remake" was supposed to be closer to the original (having the zapping system, that kind of stuff) among other things.

The zapping system was revolutionary and they barely tapped into it with the original. They could've taken it so far in this one and it's not even a thing.

Mr X gave me such hope for Nemesis. And then Nemesis turns out to be a scripted hallway chaser. Fuck Peter Fabiano. I believe he's a lot of the reason why all these newer games, for the exception of 4make that he wasn't apart of were shit. Although he's not credited with anything but RE7 8 and 2.

How much of this do you think was him saying his true thoughts under the cover of "it's just a funny cameo from me guys!"

Also replace "Sewer Gators" with "Capcom"

Pretty sure REmake2 proved the engine was able to throw a ton of zombies at you without any issues unless I'm picking a very strange/incorrect example. If you go through the survivor's missions like Hunk's to pick one, the garage is filled with zombies as is the last little run from the side-gate to the front of the RPD. No, it isn't Dead Rising-tier-body-to-body-literally-crowdsurfing-the-horde size, but definitely a decent amount of enemies on screen/in a direct area.

If we had gotten a proper open world-lite game with proper stalking like you guys were saying a lot of this stuff could have been forgiven but alas, here we are. Maybe that's why 3make stings so much (on top of all the other bullshit I've run into the ground) it's the giant missed opportunity. Guess when they remake it again in 15 years they'll get another chance.

They could've made Nemesis so intimidating and terrifying. Like imagine it would hide in game around corners for you and it was complete RNG. And he stayed in areas for a set period or until you down him but he gets back up like Mr X. But for this to work the game world would need to be bigger since he runs everywhere.

Unpopular opinion, but the hospital is honestly the best part of the game for me because it’s the one section that isn’t bogged down by attempts to shove Nemesis into the mix (reminding me that Capcom could give less of a shit about the paranoia that made him special in the first place).

I get it—this series is basically marketed to codzombies, but at this point it’s like trying to mix oil and water.
