Capcom did a great disservice to the franchise killing Wesker. Maybe if they kept him as a super villain and pulling the strings then perhaps future installments wouldn't feel like a departure from it's original core.
It's not like cloning is out of the question is it? (Yes ok cheap cliche but better than nothing) Wesker was after all the by product of an experiment for the prefect solider,

What Outbreak also nailed masterfully is the diverse cast. Not just gender and race, all these characters are of different backgrounds, ages, jobs, talents and it actually makes a difference which character you chose to play as. Mark, Yoko, Jim and David aren't just shoehorned minorities, they are actual people, and it's incredible, considering it's not particularly a character/story driven game, how it made me care about all of these characters just be learning how to play as them, not just through cutscenes. Not to mention they all have "realistic" designs and proportions yet I didn't hear a single complain about Outbreak being "woke". Now compare that to the diversity clowns of Resistance...
Not to mention some of the scenarios and maps can have differences based on the character you pick too. I also like the way characters have different relationships to each other if they are ai controlled too.

The Outbreak games are way underrated but there's one thing about them that just fucking sucks and that's the time limit by way of the infection slowly turning you into a zombie, I fucking HATE that mechanic.

Most of the scenarios are short enough that it isn't too bad, but you're always a bit rushed which is annoying, however what really sucks is I've never, not once, have been able to beat the final scenarios in either game because they are too long, you simply don't have enough time.

I just don't understand why that mechanic is in the single player mode, maybe it made sense for online to keep people moving, but not single player.

On a side note I've always loved just how fucking great the graphics in the Outbreak games are, they are some of the best looking PS2 games.

I'm curious to see how the eventual RE4 remake is going to play out.

I've been replaying RE4 a lot lately and one thing I realize is that the gameplay still holds up even today and it is fairly obvious why RE4 is often tied with RE2 and the first REmake for "Best RE Game Ever" in the eyes of the fans.

It's kind of a shame Capcom took all the wrong lessons from RE4's success which led to the malaise of the "Action Era" that gave us clunkers like RE6 and Umbrella Corps but still.

I'm curious as to why they'd remake RE4 but I do have a theory that I've said many times before. I think that Capcom wants to remake RE4 to be more horror-oriented and less action-comedy. Think fewer quips and jokes, and maybe they'll tone down the really egregious elements in the Castle and Island segments like the giant robotic Salazar statue.

Of all the "Action Era" RE games, RE4 has the most horror elements and has a distinct creepy Gothic horror atmosphere, particularly in the village during the game's first act.

I still wish they'd remake Code Veronica instead and do a remake of Survivor a story DLC since the RE Engine would lend itself well to a "Resident Evil: Survivor - Good Version" but oh well.

Oh come on. Leon being Leon in that game made perfect sense. "Your right hand comes off?" is one of the better insults out there. And Luis being Luis is well... he's a Spaniard. A hilariously stereotypical one given his love of sequins.

I hope they don't tone down the goofy shit, it's part of what makes RE4 what it is, but I would like to see some new content ala REmake and I would like it to be more horror focused.

My biggest fear for the RE4 remake is that it just won't live up to the same level that the original did. The original was undeniably influential for future games in it's genre such as Dead Space and set a gold standard for what an action survival horror game should be, trying to improve and expand upon that would be a monumental task and considering the reception the RE3 remake got, my expectations are rather low.

holy shit, you know what, I take back everything bad I said about Suzy. At least she made an effort to actually transition and her cosplay is decent (she's actually better than some of the "cis" cosplay hos who have no excuse to be mediocre. I'm sorry, Suzy, you're a nice girl)))

This is a man

And this retard is currently protected by every single "prominent community member", so god help you if you say something "transphobic". I have no problem with his cringy cosplay (still not as bad as Claire Chaotic), it's calling yourself a lesbian where I draw the line.
Men are not lesbians.
Just you wait till it turns out he groomed a minor.
Looks like someone cosplaying as Barry Burton cosplaying as Jill Valentine.

All right, everyone. Fuck, Marry, Kill:
-Jill Valentine
-Claire Redfield
-Ada Wong
Innocently date and cuddle with Jill. In high school, she was that athletic hottie who was super sweet to everyone, including your beta loser ass. Yet I'm hesitant to shag, since her body is full of viruses.

Marry Claire. Sweet girl-next-door type, has mommy instincts.

Kill Ada. Blueballing bitch.

There's a fair chance the goofier elements will be preserved, after all 7 had that chainsaw duel.

from what I've seen of Village leaks, goofy elements are safe. spoilers: (main evil lady throwing her titties in your face before turning into a dragon and Ethan's daughter going full Wesker mode...)
I think the older games did a better job combining horror with comedic elements... Now we have characters saying "fuck" every five minutes because that's realistic writing.

I dunno if this is a hottake but I find 4 scarier than 7... Sure, the gore and jumpscares might get you the first time, but during my second playthrough I was mostly annoyed because I couldn't skip cutscenes. The only memorable thing was Jack but his final form sucks

Main game Jack or "end of zoe" jack?

Thing is, how do you improve it? Other than changing up the atmosphere to make it more horror-oriented and being able to shoot while moving, what do you do? The game got so many things right the first time around that trying to improve it would likely just mess things up.

I’m still legit pissed they passed over a Code Veronica remake. 4 was great but man.. CV still had all the bad ass horror angles and shit. It was amazing.

Because while CV has a definite fanbase, it's still a middling RE game. Why remake something like that when RE4 is so much more popular?

I don't know man, I'm not sure if a crossdressing Alfred would sit well with modern "sensibilities".

Hell, I'm not really sure if Salazar will still be a midget in 4's remake, or if Capcom would let Leon make fun of him...

Leon needs to make a joke about him standing on that balcony when you first enter the castle because he's vertically impaired otherwise.
