whats so fucking hard about reuniting the old gang for one last time.
Ok, actually this is a good question and I want a poll on this from the entire internet. Is it because the old games are prehistoric now, or is it because they’ve swapped the voice/mocap actors so many times that they’re basically just strangers.

They dont like makami that's why
Funny enough, Mikami is probably one of the reasons why the old gang can't get together as he doesn't like Rebecca, so I think there'd be a not zero chance that she wouldn't be in a game where the old protagonists get together.

I hope that 9 does away with the horrid crosshair focusing mechanic capcom has been blighting re games with since the remake of 2 (or was it 7? I'm elderly and my memory fails me).
I actually don't mind it; I think it's a decent enough way to translate the slower aiming style of the older games into an FPS format.

Then I got to the shooting galleries in RE4make. Instant rage.

The RE movies are always "the old gang gets back together" and they do nothing with them. It's hard to make a dangerous bio weapon when you have the 10 best soldiers in the world fighting them. What is a Tyrant going to do against team Tyrant killers? Chris can gun fu it to death while Leon marks a snarky comment and Claire tells people how much she cares about hugging trees or children or whatever her personality has become. And Jill gets to shout fuck you in everyone's faces the moment she meets them, including the Tyrant and Chris.

In theory I get what you mean but there are way better ways to simulate the older style of aiming/more methodical pace of combat. You could have the gun actually sway a bit and have the character steady their hand as opposed to waiting on a jpeg of a cross to close. Alternatively they could make it so ammo was more scarce and not have every single enemy take six clips to the head before dying. Also now that I think about it, what the hell do you even mean by slower aiming style? In 1-6 the characters aim immediately when you press the button and the shots always hit as long as you/your cross hair is lined up.

I was intrigued by the concept of the series returning to the bombed-out wreckage of Raccoon City
I was the opposite. There should be no "remains" left to explore, it got fucking NUKED. Lazy ass writing.

Is this also why RE 0 never had a follow-up on what happened to Billy?

I just saw one soyjacking over grace Ashcroft. "Wow! She has short hair and wears a suit! So cool! Finally Capcom is ditching the gooner designs and becoming a modern company!"

Redditors are legit delusional, that isnt an insult, its a confirmed statement, a fact. It has legit been proven they are mentally fucked in the nogging in ways that legit resemble the behavior of cults.

RE0's mixed reception is possibly another reason why.

The city was struck with enough power to make sure not a single trace of the T-Virus could possibly still remain afterwards, the Outbreak games (which are even more canon now we are playing as the daughter of one of its leads) had an ending showing there was literally nothing standing and it was practically a massive crater.

Then again, they had that ending hinting at something being still alive beneath the rubble but that concerning implication was never picked up upon in the series so I might as well assume that ending is only vaguely canon at most.

I think they had no idea what to actually do with him outside of RE0. Of course this is a problem in more than a few RE games.

Billy was written in a way that you'd never question where he is since it was a prequel they couldn't introduce any elements that'd influence later games. Nothing in 0 makes sense anyway, the idea that rebecca basically goes through the exact same series of events twice in 1 night is absurd.

And doesn't say a word about it either, it's hilarious. It's not even like they had some throwaway line in the original where she's like, boy am I ever have a bad night! that autists can point to and say well, uhh there it is...

Who cares, the stories have always been retarded, just as long as they don't go full retard and it's perfectly serviceable.

They really don't give a fuck about Billy though do they?

The easy answer is that he went into hiding. Thats it. The only thing that may confuse the fans of his character is why he and Rebecca never reconnected to try to prove his innocence.

The series has the recurrent thing where many side characters, even main characters, are never heard from again outside of their debut appearance. I guess Im old enough to understand it might be better off this way instead of artificially bringing back characters who just dont have a role to naturally play.

Ironically bringing Claire back constantly only highlights how she doesnt fit in with modern RE anymore since she isnt a highly trained agent or soldier, she is just a skilled civilian with loads of experience with BOWs (and luck). She fits in classic RE but she does feel oddly out of place in modern RE (revelations 2 was a decent middle ground).

If Capcom ever bothers to do a Revelations 3 game, a plot about Billy and Rebbeca reconnecting to find some connections between his military unit and some goverment funded bio weapon thingy would be a pretty fun game.

But that idea is fun and would most likely result in an intresting story about a good looking guy and attractive woman having chemistry and maybe even flirting. Only sexless girl bosses and trannys for modern Capcom.
