Jill is one of the few characters where I prefer S.D. Perry's version of her past instead of the official one.
It's always hairy armpit White women that need to remind you Jill is actually part Japanese.

No, she isn't. She looks nothing even close to that. It's just what Capcom does to make native audiences identify with the characters.

I was meaning more her past as a cat burglar. I know it's dumb, but the whole delta force by 23 is just a little too much for my suspension of disbelief. Jill being a reformed criminal made her reactions a bit more believable. As also dumb as that might sound.

Kojima cannot resist slipping in that Solid Snake is “actually part Japanese” every single game, like bro… I’ve been staring at this Marlboro-voiced, muscle-bound lumberjack for 30 years and there’s not a drop of it in sight.

Jill is 21 years old with full Delta Force training, Chris supposedly had an Air Force career before he could buy beer legally, and Rebecca has diplomas at age 18. Makes sense,

In American action movies the hero’s always “ex–special forces, black ops, Navy SEAL, CIA double sleeper assassin", it’s a genre requirement.

As anti climactic as it is, after being on the run and exhausted from the events of Zero, it's very much a possibility that Billy got killed by a stray Cerberus.

Yeah, but RE wasn't an American movie, regardless of how later games would become. Like I said, for all the weird shit I'll buy to not break suspension of disbelief, it's almost always the little tidbits that wind up breaking it.

With Chris I always assumed he joined the airforce as soon as he got out of highschool, and considering he joined S.T.A.R.S. at 25 it didn't really make seem like a huge stretch.

He's probably just 1/1024 Japanese.

no he doesn't, why are you making things up to complain about.
Call Miller during the Raven fight in MGS1 and they mention it. It was actually part of old lore that Big Boss was part Japanese, but this was retconned with MGS3 and in MGS4 they make it a point to say that the donor eggs for the Les Efants Terribles project was from Dr. Clarks Japanese assistant.

I can't remember if there was a mention of it in a MGS V tape or not.

Let's not even get into how McDonnel Benedict Miller suddenly became Kazuhira Miller in MGS Peace Walker.

Edit: Also forgot that the original MG2: Solid Snake manual stated that Snake was Japanese-British.

Zero should have been about random people instead of Rebecca.

Zero should have been what it says

An origin story for Umbrella.

What we got was basically RE 0.9 since its literally a prequel that happens right before the events of 1 and altho it does add some lore to Umbrella, its intro really felt like it was building up towards the actual origins of the company and its founders.

How awesome would it be if we had a game with Spencer, Ashford and Marcus set in Africa where they would find the Progenitor Virus and maybe some monsters it has created. They survive but they get the ambition of profitting off of it. Maybe also have things that sort of setup their ultimate fates, sort of ending it with Spencer being the one retelling said story in his hidden castle with wanted by the whole world.

Imagine how sinister would it be if the last thing we see is Spencer looking out his written memories and we see a familiar figure of someone at the window and said figure has glowing red pupils.

It would be a great way to create a setup that RE 5 would pay off.

Maybe this was the intention in theory at one point, around 1/4 japanese but that has been downplayed in practice so much it might as well not apply

B.B and Snake are white. End of story.

Solid Snake is better either way.
I've always had this opinion. He's always been the most interesting character in the series. After playing Delta, I guess my memories were nostalgia goggles because Big Boss isn't that deep. What makes him interesting is the Boss, and when she's dead that brings his character to an end.

KOJIMA is a dogshit writer and you have to wrestle the interesting lore bits out of him or make your own characterizations. metal gear is just like star wars, the story of a deeply troubled man who tought he was doing well untill he fucked up all to hell. the missing link of the saga is big boss going evil, im sure that chink tought he was so smart for pulling the venom snake retardation but he wasnt because he still had to fit everything into mgs4 and shitted out all the retcons and NANOMACHINES to try and fail to explain why big boss went from idealistic, to rogue, to evil.

I might have said this before, but I believe it bears repeating that I believe most of this pretty much stems from Kojima not having a plan to do anything beyond even Metal Gear Solid 1. And yes, I say this despite the ending of that game. The way I see it, he only left the door slightly open for a sequel if he wanted to ever come back to it. By the time he got to MGS2, I believe he must have asked himself : Ok, now what? Do I make one more game and end things there or do I turn this into a franchise? If I do turn this into a franchise, what am I going to do then?

This is a general problem I see in a lot of franchises. Quite often the people involved never expected to create a franchise. At most, they probably had only 1 additional game in mind, not 2 or 3 or beyond.

The missing link of the saga is bad boss going evil
Helen Keller could’ve seen that coming. Kojima was always gonna favor Big Boss, like Star Wars did with Anakin.

What I did not see coming was Ocelot turning into some kind of coin flip anti-hero? Ocelot was an unrepentant, little rat bastard for three games. He most likely raped Meryl. Now he’s some noble cowboy from a bygone era who respects Snake so much that he HAS to help him?

It's sad, because Big Boss in lore was always cool, but the more Kojima "revealed" and retconned, the worse and worse he got.

Thank God Solid Snake really only got two games and one of them got localized by someone with some sense.

This is true. MGS is a lot more fun and interesting if you notice that Big Boss has always been a fucking crazy person instead of believing that he has some sort of hypno doppelganger he's using to do all the "bad stuff".

Playing Delta really made me realize how that makes much more sense. He literally witnesses a sea of white flowers turning blood red when The Boss dies, he witnesses her scar turn into a snake and slither away, then when they fly over the scene again later the flowers are white again.

In Peace Walker you have all of the trippy scenes when he's pulling out the computer cores inside Peace Walker too. So many people in MG2 and MGS refer to him as being a mad man. So why *wouldn't* all of the goofy shit in MGS V be hallucinations of a mind that can't deal with the fact he's the bad guy? The game even has a fucking subplot where he can't handle the fact he got someone killed and hallucinates entire scenes with them and other characters.
