claire only has 5 appearences in the series. in 2 and CV and dead island she enters the situatiom willingly. In rev2 she's kidnapped because of who she is and what her job is. So really only degeneration is a coincidence where she happened to be in the wrong place during a terrorist attack and in that one she leaves as soon as she can.

There's Resident Evil Infinite Darkness as well that she's involved, and a side manga event that's canon too, so 7.
Infinite darkness is also a case of her seeing a problem and injecting herself into it but also thats like nu-re those arent even the same characters, theyre re2make versions. Mangos arent real, nobody read that.

They could have tied in Hunk to that game and it would have done well. Leon wasn't a draw, he was just the guy you played as in RE4. No one was actually psyched about a Leon game. People were excited about the game.

Leon was an incredibly charming character in 4 and the writing has never reached those peaks again, though 7 and 8 did a good job at times and obviously wesker stole the show at the end of 5.
