I love the two outfits Leon is wearing in the middle. The jacket one is a very nice updated version of the RE2 outfit with a bit more pouches and stuff to represent him being a more seasoned adventuring type this time around, and the other one is peak action hero with the jacket, webbing rig around the waist, and mag pouches on the hip.
The one with the pouches is what he's wearing under his new coat. If you zoom in on the renders you can tell. He's got that shit under it. I guess his main sidearm is that giant Russian rifle round using revolver.

Retarded take. Everyone lost their shit for the hook man demo because it's Leon and it was that REmake vibe.
So you remember the reveal as "Hell yeah, we get to play as Leon! Also, the game looks nice."
while I remember it as "Hell yeah, RE4 and the Capcom 5 looks fucking great! Leon being the main character is not actually that important, the game is the main attraction. Also, eat shit sony-ponys!"

I will say that the game being a Gamecube exclusive generated more buzz and more forum posts than the reveal that you play as Leon.

Leon was great as the goodie two shoes with a golden heart in the OG RE2 sure, but nobody really gave that much of a fuck about him compared to Jill and Chris until after RE4. Sure he had his fans before RE4, but his popularity exploded after RE4, not before. I remember Jill having the most fans early on followed by Chris and Claire. Leon was above Barry and Rebecca mind you, but Barry was always more of a meme and Rebecca had more haters than fans. RE4 is what made Leon the fan favorite. Also, notice how in RE2 he was a goodie two shoes, he hasn't been that since RE4, they even completely changed his character in the Remake of 2 to be more wisecracking and less trustworthy, it's clear RE2 isn't what made him popular when every film, game and cutsey anime ad campaign has made him perform like RE4 instead of the OG RE2.

I'm not even happy with that change in RE2 Remake, mind you. I preferred the reason he became more badass was because of secret service training and surviving the Raccoon City incident. But I know why they made it.

Is it worth it to play outbreak file 1 and 2 ahead of requiem, all I would need is to get the ISO files which is easy. Also how do those games play, I'm assuming tank controls?
Absolutely. I think they're some of the best in the series and I'd recommend them over any new RE game today. Yes it's tank controls.

I'm still waiting for him to decapitate himself. Very dishonorabur he didn't.

Leon in Re2 game dialogue he seemed like a goody two shoes because of the bad acting and dialogue, but canonically he was an alcoholic who had to leave his department due to some unsavory police work iirc.

The whole reason he didn't die is because he was late to his first day on the job because he was up all night drinking.

This is the first time im hearing that. Whats your source?

From what I remember people were complaining about Capcom fucking up Resident Evil lore(RE4) because Leon was a rookie and now he was the presidents super special agent and there was no character arch to bridge that, blah blah who cares. RE4 is fantastic, don't get me wrong, but Leon(mostly known for RE2) wasn't THE selling point in the 2003 demo that never turned into a game.

He was drunk due to his girlfriend breaking up with him. Calling it bad acting and dialogue because a sad guy was sad and did a sad guy thing is retarded. Yeah, the 21 year old who had a bad night was depressed and took a day off. Yes it led to the events of the game. But also, he's such a heartthrob in the og 2 because of this as well. The reason he is so easy to trust people is because he desires connection after losing his girlfriend. He also didn't have to leave his old department. RE2 was canonically his "first day on the force. In the magical year of 1998 I'll never forget it... It was the year those grizzly murders happened in the Arklay mountains." Prior to that he was only a member of the police academy. Again, he got drunk because his girlfriend left him and he was depressed. Then when he came in and also met Claire he tried to feel more positive. RE1 is the only game with bad dialogue from the main cast. RE2, 3 and Code Veronica all left the retarded shit to npcs like Kendo.

It's well known, and referenced here and there if you looks in the right places (instruction manual and some notes). Plus it's referenced a lot in the movies. However he wasn't technically an alcoholic in 2, he didn't start drinking until his girlfriend broke up with him a week before he joined the force. Which was after he graduated the academy and 6 days before his first day as an officer.

I Didn't say the dialogue and acting is bad because Leon was sad. I like the backstory and story overall, I say the dialogue and acting is bad, (with resident evil 2 still being my favorite in the series) because it's objectively awkward and goofy. It's a step up from Re1 but come on.

He sees a fleshless creature crawling on the ceiling over a decapitated corpse and his response is " oh boy..."

Odd choice of a gun considering its size and rarity of ammunition in the West. Now if there's anything that needed either a 12.7x55mm or 9x39mm round its a BoW, but something in .44 Magnum since you can actually find those bullets outside of Russia would be a better choice.

Like the Mateba, which looks a lot like the RSh-12 at first glance, comes in both 6" and 8 and 3/8" barrel lengths and in various nickel finishes matching the gloss we see on Leon's gun. The RSh-12 only comes in one color, black, and has both top and bottom Picatinny rails unlike Leon's gun, which has a dovetail on the bottom and a Picatinny on top. His gun also angles backwards above the barrel, same as the Mateba, whereas the RSh-12 is flat all across the front save for the barrel protrusion and is completely flat on the sides, lacking the large swell around the barrel the Mateba does but Leon's gun possesses. So, its more likely a customized Mateba, especially since the Japanese love the Mateba and really don't like the Russians.

Hell, it might even be modified to fire the .454 Casull round like a certain other Japanese monster slayer used.

I mean, if you nuked a city and one of the few survivors who walked away from that nuke was a rookie cop, first day on the job, who went straight into the heart of that city to confront ground zero of the outbreak, wouldn't you want to hire him to protect the president? Makes sense to me.

Leon always had weirdo guns, that isn't new either. More high caliber revolvers is never a bad thing.

not just that, Leon fought Birkin and all that other shit, he was recruited on the spot by that CIA Spook who would go on to become the President by RE6, he wasn't just the President's Top Guy, he was their go to BOW super trooper.

I like Leon but I feel like I'm going insane seeing that hair style on a fifty something year old. I guess I should put it down to b movie charm but goddamn it looks terrible.
It's such a bastardized version of his original hair anyway. Shit looks fucking ridiculous.

I'm also not a fan of the recessed-chin, dead-eyed, Calvin Klein looking guy they modeled him off of for these remakes. It's something only a yellow or brown would think is mansculine/attractive.

They're fun, but yeah. Leon looks so bad.
