@Wesker I've noticed an inability to answer basic questions from you. Why are you retarded( why do you abandon God by refusing his gift of a brain pulse? Again. Sub-70 iq niggers like you belong in Somalia. Or better yet Kijuju so I can shoot you when Capcom remakes RE5.

@Wesker why are you running pussy? The questionaire was extremely basic. Any real fan could answer them. It's called playing the games. Something you clearly are too much of a vagina to do. Again go back to Somalia retard. Picking up a controller seems beyond your mental faculties.

his name was Steve and they were gold Lugers, two of them, from one of the classic "gun on a wall, if you take it off you fuckin die" puzzles, which involved Steve just yoinking them leaving you to fucking die or figure out the puzzle in like 40 seconds.
Ahhh Steve. I thought he was a pretty fun character until his mutated form chases you down a long hallway. What's the general consensus on CVX here? When I played it i thought it the mechanics were a little unfair. I.e. the shared inventory only later in the game, the BOW rounds basically being required during the tyrant boss fight, enemy respawns once you leave a room. Don't get me wrong atmosphere and story were great but there's some BS mechanics lodged in there too.

CVX has a good plot and characters, but it feels like a slog to play. You'll find endless posts about how people were locked out of getting the magnum because they left the fire extinguisher on the island. Every other game had a very straightforward magnum sidequest or you just find it laying on the ground. CVX has got to have some of the tougher boss fights of the series, with the plane Tyrant and Nosferatu. But I like that they're different since the overwhelming majority of bosses in the series is just shoot it until it dies. But with that it's got the Albinoid which is just a joke after all the leadup to it.

CVX has a lot more going for it than Zero for a remake. Since you can leave most of it intact, just make it so that it doesn't feel miserable to play. The camera angle usage and panning camera makes it feel more like a Dino Crisis game than RE.

LMAO. Is that why you post here instead of an actual RE fan forum you coward? Pussy lips gerald over here calling me a nigger when he's clearly got skin blacker than his coal ass opinons. I'd call you a mother fucker. But in your African community it's a compliment. STFU fake fan. Tell me, when was the last time you even played a video game you low corrosive lump of fecal matter who dares call itself a human being? Fuck off and beg god for mercy for denying the gift of intelligence he went out of his way to grant you.

Now then. Since you hate RE3 Remake so much despite the fact you haven't played either game considering most of what you claim to despise is in both. Why don't you do yourself a favor and actually play them you fake fan.
RE3 remake is bad, we're not having this discussion, you up jumped favela monkey. Jill is a cunt, nemesis is dog shit and they cut half the game out.

Remake RE1 and turn it into a shitty third person shooter with an edgy story that completely buthers the original in favor of modern, edgy tropes. Just like RE2R.
While I agree that's highly likely, and I was against them going back to RE1. I don't really care anymore. Nu Capcom is going to shit up (for the most part with some diamonds in the rough) any remake they do now.

What they could do is give us an ending that has Chris, Jill, Barry and Rebecca getting on the helicopter at the end. And make the live section choices as diverse as they were in the original which REmake didn't do for some reason.

Resident evil has the same issue as mortal Kombat in that when it's THIS IS SUPER SERIOUS GUYS TAKE IT SERIOUSLY makes it immediately not as fun.

Like I think a great balance is revelations 2, some outright retarded dialogue (we're the unflinching mop that wipes up bioterrorism, moist barrel of fucks, HERE'S BARRY, and Jill sandwich) coupled with some genuinely fucking scary atmosphere and story, but at the same time, one man wiping out half of Russia because they touched his daughter.

Barry is too good for this franchise.

That's the core issue I have with the new games. They've taken out all the cheesy bullshit that made the series great with a syringe. Why does it need to be so dark and brooding all the time now? People will argue that REmake did that first, and that's true to a degree but it's still cheesy B movie shit in that. It's nearly identical dialogue from RE1 without the goofy cadence.

From 2R onward it's as serious as a cancer hospital with some of the worst acting I've seen in a AAA series. If you're going to do the dead serious shit, get actual actors.

No kidding, the discrepancy between 4 and 4R is probably the most jarring. I don't think Requim will be any different. I think part of it goes back to the vibe shift 7 started, that being more horror focused. 6 jumped the shark with the action, something that had been increasing since 4. I think with 7 they really wanted to scare the shit out of people and the serious tone just followed along with it. Now they're in a hole where 7,8, and 9 tone wise are super serious and dark. As a byproduct of that the remakes have gotten enveloped in that tone as well.

I've warmed up to 7, but half that game is straight slop once you leave the house. I hope 9 returns to some of that, with the goofyness RE4 OG had.

Everyone keeps attacking people shitting on Grace and they don't want to play as scared girls.

THE SERIES HAS ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY

No, it hasn't. Jill and Claire didn't scream at every little thing beyond the game introductions. That shit is going to be annoying as fuck. The trailers already lead you to believe that's going to be beaten over your head.

RE4make's Separate Ways giving us more time with Ada and adding content to the original (albeit largely based on removed content from base game) than RE3make did with Jill makes you wonder what the fuck happened there. How much time was split between RE3make and that multiplayer game everyone forgot released alongside it? Hopefully they don't try that shit again.

The Carlos section was alright and Mikhail (and his death) were a highlight if only for the novelty of a good guy merc aligned with Umbrella and expressing concern for civilians. Besides that, choices were taken out, bosses were removed, incentives to fight Nemesis were removed and he was downgraded on the whole, and you're more or less left with a game that feels designed to be speedran more than anything else. I guess relying on pre-rendered instead of in-game cutscenes might've played a part in removing branching paths but I no idea. Unlike Separate Ways. the added content didn't make up for what they removed and my issues with that DLC (Ada and Wesker) are largely superficial. I'm just gutted my favourite of the classic Resident Evils got done so dirty.

The hospital section of 3R is the only spot I thought improved the original. Then they stick NEST 2 (fucking yuck) beneath it.

I genuinely forget everything after turning the train in and the hospital. The only thing I genuinely can say I enjoy is Nikolai. He isn't even evil, he's just a fucking asshole, and that's so funny to me.

Nikolai is better, I just hate his celery stalk head. I find it interesting they stuck with the canon ending of him not dying, at least on screen.

That's another thing. No Barry ending. God, fuck that game.

Yeah 3R left a lot to be desired. You know fuck it I have New Years off maybe I'll go replay re3 original. I still can't believe it took Sony so long to port re2 and 3 to modern consoles.

They didn't give a shit according to GOG. Which isn't surprising. The nu fags running that company tell people to play the shitty demakes.

I typically play RE3 OG few times a month since it's my fav of the series. So you can imagine my disgust of the remake. I tried to remain optimistic, but then they showed dog Nosesis in the launch trailer...

Man this has been some of the worst thread posting Ive ever seen. I read some terrible shit before but this tweenage idiot edge writing from L2 takes the cake.

I thought 7 and 8 were actually kind've goofy, but it's probably 10-20% vs something like 30-70% of the games pre-7. They seem to divide it between characters rather than smear it all over.

7 reserved it's goofiness for Jack and Lucas in the base game, and the DLC featuring the brother fist fighting monsters was completely goofy. RE8 mostly had Heisenberg and the Fish guy, maybe the Duke (merchant). RE9 might have Grace be more serious and have Leon be the more comedic half but I can only guess. I think the villain might be a bit hammy but their dual focus on hard horror and complete action are playing to the audience's lauded attributes of prior titles. People liked the baby section from RE8 and people like RE4. Put both into 1 game and you got a banger, which is probably their thought process.

The remakes though did try to squeeze out the goof though. RE4make isn't completely barren of it but the tone compared to the original is far more grounded which gives less room for it. The wolf returning with accompanying background thunder doesn't make up for Leon no longer being incredibly corny but also cool at the same time. The only time he does something that feels like the original game's Leon is the unnecessary wall backflip with the introduction of the chainsaw sisters.

The Japanese wrote corny shit in earnest, which gives it soul. It's 100% serious and so it's not being too self-deprecating or too self-aware of its own genre. The most recent example of this I can recall is Final Fantasy Stranger's Paradise, where this shit was done in complete earnest and wasn't at all satire.

Having something be cool regardless of the situation requires someone to treat what they're creating 100% seriously whilst also having no shame whatsoever, which is harder to do nowadays thanks to social media, because you can read a million remarks on how weird your shit is. People liked Jack from Stranger's Paradise but the game director didn't appreciate why people liked him - being a 2edgy4u tryhard who would hit a child and gives zero shits about exposition/world building in a fantasy setting is so funny.

its a good game, and LONG for a Classic Resident evil, which I liked! that meant there really was more "survival" aspect of the game, why they never made longer ones and instead made A and B scenarios I dunno, hell Nemesis, as beloved as it is, is short too.

it has some critical flaws, namely you can hard lock and soft lock yourself rather easily, if you put the Fire Extinguisher in the metal detector box, you cannot refill it later as Chris and put out a fire you need to get past, completely fucking you if you don't have a past save of about fucking 3-5 hours previous near the start of the game, you can also soft lock yourself if your too damaged as Claire going into the Steve running encounter. you'll get hit the one hit you have left and die almost always.

I liked Steve, he's exactly what he's supposed to be, a 17 year old hormonal teenager who cannot cope with the insanity surrounding him, unlike the Ubermensch that make up the regular cast, and despite this he tries to come to the rescue like 3 times, and does so.
The Ashfords are fun in how cartoonishly evil they are, even for people in this franchise, and Wesker was a neat little surprise, I thought it was kinda hilarious how Leon's reaction to Claire's S.O.S email was to be like "yea Chris can figure it out, I'm fucking busy".

Man it's been like four years since I played it. I think mine was the PS4 version which upscaled the graphics of the ps2 version instead of the weird remastered lighting on the ps3 version. The more you mention it the more I remember how much I liked it. I will say the bandersnatches pissed me off and so did the soft lock steve hallway part, had to go back to a previous save where I had full health/herbs. That one hallway with the moths outside the save room was the worst though but overall I do agree good game. Whatever happened to that supposed fan remake that was being done, I recall seeing some early models/test footage from when Claire wakes up in the jail?
