Ahhh Steve. I thought he was a pretty fun character until his mutated form chases you down a long hallway. What's the general consensus on CVX here? When I played it i thought it the mechanics were a little unfair. I.e. the shared inventory only later in the game, the BOW rounds basically being required during the tyrant boss fight, enemy respawns once you leave a room. Don't get me wrong atmosphere and story were great but there's some BS mechanics lodged in there too.
I'd say it's the weakest of the main series, though some might say RE0 is. The more you play it the more glaring it's flaws are, and the few things it does right, a creepy atmosphere, dual-wielding guns, Steve dying, just aren't able to make the game better in my eyes.

What Zero has going for it is that it still plays like a traditional RE where as CVX doesn't. I tend to change my opinion on which is worse depending on my mood. I just argue they're both bad for very different reasons.

The ultimate RE dichotomy. I like all the mainline games but those two battle for the worst (I still think they're good).

CVX is honestly one of my favorites, I'd say probably third in line after the RE1 remake and Outbreak File 1 and 2 [ which I count as one game because if not for size restrictions, I'm almost certain they would have been released on the same disc] which makes me a fucking weirdo when it comes to RE discourse. The only real qualms I have with it are that the plot is kinda batshit in places, making you retread the same areas with very few alterations as Chris was kinda bullshit, and the lack of warning prior to character switching [so you don't leave Claire or Chris with fucking nothing useful in the item box] was also bullshit. Other than those, though, it and RE1 remake are basically the 'peak' of the tank controls era - you could tell that Capcom had refined the formula by this point.

Speaking of the Albinoid in CV, man that fucking boss fight had so much build-up and then you basically don't even have to fight it lmao. I don't think I ever killed it in a single one of my playthroughs.

Outbreak, though, was so much fucking better when you actually played it online - when it worked. The AI 'squadmates' leave a lot to be fucking desired. Picking up a key item and then taking off across the map to go die in some obscure ass fucking room with nothing else in it, or dumb ass George getting scooped up by the giant fucking moth. Those niggas waste so much ammo on stupid shit, it's unreal.

Also, many thanks to the janny who threadbanned that sperg.

Code Veronica is a very uncanny game. It has a very unique weirdness to it, a lot of its enemy designs are less conventional, the bandersnatch is a fairly unused mythological creature to pull from and nosferatu is silly in all the right ways. The antagonists are creepy and that ant video of them as children is drilled into my brain, the soundtrack puts modern fromsoft games to shame. Its a very bizarre game and I love it for being so weird.

I still think they're entirely worth playing. It's just they're in esteemed company.

CVX is coming off the heels of Nemesis which imo is the best execution of tank controls in the entire series.

Well they named all their BOW after children's stories, because they were children when they came up with them.

Its good Alexia wasted so much time becoming an Uber-BOW and then promptly died, because she's the smartest most cunning villain the entire series and was decades ahead of all the other researchers, T-Veronica Alexia is easily rank 2 in terms of B.O.W. power and threat, followed by Rose/Miranda being absolutely the pinnacle.

You're not wrong. The scenarios in File 2 were originally cut from the first game due to time and size restraints.
There's an interview with Alyson Court saying her bf or someone worked on File 1 and said it was supposed to be thirty scenarios I believe.

If Capcom re-remakes Resident Evil, would they make a model for Jill that looks like her old model or will they just stick with the Resident Evil 3 Remake one? It's going to be very off-putting seeing the old Chris model interact with the new Jill one. I blame Capcom for not standing their ground and sticking with the new Chris model of Resident Evil VII.

3rd option, they give them both an entirely new look once again that lasts just one game.

Nu Jill needs to be left in the garbage where it belongs.

Wild card here but I don't think they'll touch RE1 again after the GameCube remake. IMO it's the best version of the game and is more accessible than original RE1 (directors cut is the only accessible version on psn). Alternatively I feel like they would have already done it if they wanted to, especially after the relatively good response re2 remake had.

For example silent hill 2 remake sold well and was received well enough by fans (enough to grant a full steam ahead remake of sh1). With Capcom they remade 2 and then did a cut down shitty version of 3 which obviously ruffled feathers....hell I brought this up but it took them years to port original re2 and 3 to modern consoles. At this point with the the fan response to the 3 remake as well as everyone's attachment to the GameCube remake (rightfully deserved) a safe play may be to just simply leave RE1 untouched. In fact an even safer play is to shove a 48 year old Leon into the current game lmao.

It's inevitable they'll do it. I think they're going to hit everything in the main series up to 6 eventually. RE1RR is fine, but add in the things that REmake didn't include which is a short list.
