It's inevitable they'll do it. I think they're going to hit everything in the main series up to 6 eventually. RE1RR is fine, but add in the things that REmake didn't include which is a short list.
I dunno about 5, Co-Op is now viewed as a huge fucking bungle on their part, no one gave a fuck and playing solo meant you had that retard AI Sheva wasting all the shit you give her.

The entire game was built around it, 6 too, but at least 6 has so much fucking content its unreal, so theres at least variety in the shit your forced to do with A.I or some dumbass, 6 is just too ambitious and completely bled every single atomic particle of horror though.

I think they would go at 6 with a hatchet because they're too fucking lazy. I can't see them doing four completely independent campaigns with unique enemies when we couldn't even get fucking spiders.

Wild card here but I don't think they'll touch RE1 again after the GameCube remake. IMO it's the best version of the game and is more accessible than original RE1
RE1-3 og are on gog.

The team ai in 6 is invincible and has infinite ammo, it doesn't take your resources. It can only die to insta kill things like if you fail to help it up a ledge in time or the ambulence toward the end of Leon ch1.

I've got multiple playthroughs of REmake 1, made it halfway through 0 before ragequtting, 100%ed OG RE4 all on steam, but I recently got a Resident Evil itch.

I bought all of the older titles for 5$ each and saw the REengine games up to REmake 4 were old enough to be 10$ each in bundles. I've beat RE7 and RE8 so far.

7 was pretty good and went to shit slowly at the ship level. Final Boss was lame. It was awesome being a redneck brawler and punching black creatures in End of Zoe. Not a Hero was fun with boulder punching Chris. Didn't care for the other DLCs,

8 started off strong and I personally liked it. Yeah, it's true aside from Dimitrescu and maybe Heisenberg, the other lords aren't really fleshed out or interesting. The ending was fucking retarded.

Ethan had no real reason to sacrifice himself.

Shadows of Rose was alright. Didn't try mercenaries.

RE games mostly aren't scary to me, but they are comfy. Yes, even RE0 and CV have their charm.

Yes he did, he wasn't going to live much longer without his heart, he was basically pure willpower, Miranda couldn't even control him despite him being basically 100% Mold, after the fact he probably simply crashed, he'd probably devolve into Mold Goo if he didn't blow up.

Tried a bit of Tormented Souls 2: The Tormentening and it goes to show how you may be able to get the aesthetics sorta right when it comes to a fixed camera REmake1 clones but usually struggle to get the other aspects correct too.

It's actually kind of fascinating how well the RE games are made in comparison to people trying to ape them. I don't even really have a great answer as to answering why the majority just don't get it but I think there's a fundamental failure when it comes to making exploring the environments, solving puzzles, handling inventory, and fighting enemies come together in an entertaining, satisfying, and vaguely scary package.

Closest have been games like Nightmare of Decay, Dead Beacon, and Dead of Darkness but each of these is doing something totally different from the other but leaning into thing especially.

an updated for steam version of the 3ds mercenaries 3d game would be pretty neat, upscale the graphics and add some more content,
At this point, just have sphere Hunter play jill, you can't ruin her anymore, and it's what modern fans deserve.
get anthony Cumia to play Chris LMAO

Nu Jill needs to be left in the garbage where it belongs.
We need the Julia Voth Jill to return

I still haven't gotten around to playing Tormented Souls 2. I completed the original and liked it well enough. Ground Zero and Echoes of the Living are still better though from my experience.

The main issue is all these companies are smaller than capcom was even in the mid nineties and have to make games with a shoestring budget and likely little to no playtesters. EOTL is an insanely ambitious game for a 2 person dev team and I'm a little worried they'll never finish the second scenario let alone the extra content they have planned afterwards. I'd say it and Ground Zero come the closest to nailing the feel of the old RE games. Signalis and Conscript I enjoyed a lot but their atmosphere suffered due to being limited to the top down view.

I have Ground Zero on my wishlist, it looks great. Haven't tried the demo yet. I also have Echoes of the Living on my wishlist and I think someone else here played it and quite liked it but I remember playing a demo or alpha of it a while back and thinking, once again, it looks similar to RE, but something's off and feels Not Good to play. I'll try it after it comes out EA.

Reminds me that Phase Zero was really good and hitting then sweet spot of RE2 inspired oldschool PSX survival horror. Very excited for that one.

Signalis I enjoyed and had a great atmosphere and style to it but got a bit tedious for the same reason that I also had an issue with Conscript which is that they both learned the wrong lesson from Crimson Heads, which is that yes, you should be able to create an interesting decision for players killing zombies and not disposing of the bodies or positioning corpses in a spot that you can't aggravate them again, but not making the game just frustrating. Signalis enemies just get back up again no matter what irrespective of the player, and Conscript is closer to the RE style of burn the body but still fucks up giving the player options because the narrow trenches are fairly linear so if you didn't burn the body, prepare for rats/annoyances but also good luck just avoiding/ignoring enemies too. (I am not a conscript/signalis expert, just my shallow opinions on it.)

RE gave you options, the other guys didn't figure that out properly.

I'm doing my second playthrough of EOTL for Liam's campaign and the now completely fixed map is making a clear difference. I'm usually really good at mapping out an area in my head but this game's areas are so vast (think Rockfort Island in Code Veronica) and some areas in the art gallery were so samey that it became a problem in the later stages. The save system is still busted for the middle of the game and requires checkpoints and the game still needs some balancing (melee weapons are too good and lead to you having a surplus of ammo).

I completely forgot about Phase Zero since I cleared the demo once and haven't tried it again since. It's good although the inability to aim up or down with a gun feels weird and too dumbed down.

Yeah the flares in Signalis are too few and you can't use the overlapping body trick from REmake to get the most out of them. They did at least tweak the flashlight and camera to not take up inventory spaces although I'd already beaten the game by the time that update landed. You don't spend too much time in each area of Signalis so it's less of a problem although the lack of map in the mine section is ridiculous.

Conscript was funny in that I was literally in the middle of the game when the dev patched in some balance changes to make the rats less annoying (more nest holes you can blow up, etc). Whether intentional or not, a trick I found was that if you leave a downed soldier without finishing them off, they won't attract rats. They'll just lay there on the ground screaming in agony but never succumb to their wounds. I wasn't crazy about the shop and am tired of survival horror games incorporating them. I just picked up the game Alisa on sale and that has one as well where you have to grind for currency.

Forgot about Alisa, that's as close as I've ever seen to an OG Resident Evil 1 clone. I played through about half of it and got a bit frustrated by it because the shop was bugging me and I didn't want to feel like I had fucked up by buying the wrong thing. Pretty fun though, I think they got a lot right. Pretty spooky enemies at times and the Big Doll that chases you is legit scary.

In actual RE news, I am shocked at the pricing on these fucking games. I can't even try before buying thanks to fucking Denuvo and the community basically having given up on cracking it until we get consumer grade quantum machines to crack it so I'm staring down the barrel of $85 CAD via 3rd party activation codes. What are peoples' personal over/under on it being a disaster like RE3make?

Nerrel had a detailed review regarding Alisa's faults but I felt inclined to try it anyway once it went on sale. If I remember right that game is also mostly the work of one person which explains some of its issues. The author is apparently working on additional DLC for the game but who knows when it's coming out.

I've seen plenty of idiotic nintendo fans coming up with excuses to justify buying the RE7-9 collection even though they're all key cards and it's 90 USD for games you will never own. And it's the shittiest versions of all of those games to boot. I haven't bought an RE game on release since 7 because it was a huge disappoint and the remakes were dogshit. I rented REmake 2 from Redbox back when that was possible and stopped after clearing Claire A and Leon B. I didn't bother with REmake 3 since I could tell it was going to be shit based on how quickly it was coming out. Pirated REmake 4 and found it underwhelming and didn't finish it.

At some point I got all of these on steam via keys along with Village for 10 bucks each but haven't played any of them aside from REmake 2 again because I wanted to try out the fixed camera mod (the game still mostly sucks even with it). This is likely what I'll do with Requiem as well. I figured it'll be a competent over the shoulder action game (at least during Leon's part) but if the rumored open world aspect is true then it'll probably be quite shitty. The game's optimization doesn't look great (can't even hit 60 without frame generation). So capcom's once again being lazy and relying on it like a crutch like they did with monster hunter wilds.

Some gacha addict reviewed the RTS game and it's pretty much as bad as we suspected. The guy has barely any exposure to the RE series but basically points out how the whole thing is practically a scam.

I already preordered Capcom, you didn't need to sell me.

I know everyone’s talking about the new game, but I need to vent really quick about Resident Evil 5. I recently started a replay of the game on hardcore mode by myself and I’m about to drop it because of how drop-dead retarded the AI partner is. Here’s some of what’s pissed me off:
  • I gave it a shotgun early on to use and it NEVER used it and preferred draining pistol ammo instead, even when heavy enemies or the chainsaw guy shows up
  • It also was adverse to using the sniper rifle for some reason, again preferring to shoot targets (poorly) with the pistol at range
  • Getting it to do any melee attacks is impossible. Occasionally it will do a follow-up attack after I hit an enemy, but it will never do it on its own and just prefers draining pistol ammo
  • If you or the AI have even a papercut, the AI will waste a healing item trying to get your health to 100%
  • Grenades? What are those? I also foolishly expected the AI to lay down mines during that first boss fight and realized I’d have to do that myself too
  • During the on-rails gunner segment, the AI was next to useless and I ended up dying at least once due to it failing to shoot things in a timely manner
I finally threw my hand up at the el Niggante fight because, again, the AI is useless at being useful and I constantly ate shit from the firebomb-throwing dudes and not doing enough damage quickly enough to stall out the bosses’ attacks at certain moments. Fuck Resident Evil 5 without an actual partner.

I hated 5 and it was the first time Crapcom broke my heart even though I had played 0 before this but I had no expectations from it so I wasn't really let down as much as I was pissed off. When I saw 5 I thought, there's no way they can fuck this up, 4 was the blueprint, copy it, make it better bigger fancier and then start cashing those cheques. Boy was I wrong!

Anyone I've ever seen in real life defend it played with a friend in co-op so maybe that's why my lonely experience was so awful.
