Loved the series for the longest time.
Hoping we get outbreak remakes because those were hella good, the multplayer would be fun to see again. A code veronica remake is needed.

Unpopular opinion: 4 isn't as good as people make it out to be. I played it back on gamecube and meh it's neat looking but i don't care much for talking infected. The lore surrounding las plagas is still interesting though.

I started to hate the series around 5. It was really cartoony.

Operation Racoon City is a meh guilty pleasure just wish Hunk was a playable character.

Resident Evil Gaiden for GBC is so nostalgic for me, the battle track slaps

I hope to never see a boat as a main location again.

...Okay. Capcom won't completely fuck the RE storyline, they'll bring back best girl Rebecca, re-master and release all four Breath of Fire games, a sequel to Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, make a brand new Captain Commando game, and finally release Mega Man Legends 3.

May as well dream big.
 
You know, I recently replayed a bit of RE 6 with a friend of mine that is marathoning the RE series and...holy shit, going from playing REmake 2 and to RE 6 I cant believe how much Leon's character changed for the worse. He was a pure boi cop in RE 2 who just wanted to help people, especially the little guy, and still had hope that the city could be saved (one cant say that his pureness wasnt one of the things that Ada grew attracted to). Now Leon is such a cynical bastard, almost always having that brooding emotionless stare that started to become a thing with RE Degeneration and the series never seemed to catch the hint we prefered RE 4 Leon over this, serious but still caring enough and not beyond sometimes cracking wise at the situation

It's RE6, you could create a laundry list of things it gets wrong about the series, Leon's personality is just one part of many.

Thats obvious, Im simply refering to character in this case. At least RE 5 was fun to play, RE 6's guns feel all the same.

I've tried RE5 twice and I personally don't find it fun to play, it's just a worse version of 4 and I'm not as crazy about 4 as most everyone else is.

Resident Evil mostly went off the reservation for around 15 years, with the Outbreak games being the last ones to feature the classic formula before RE2 Remake brought it back.
 
5 remains my worst in the series. It just feels over the top and off compared to other entries. Even 6 had a few interesting things going for it compared to 5.

The setting probably went a long way towards this. I was fine with placing the story in Africa, because it makes sense that sinister entities would exploit the continent away from the developed worlds eyes, but everything was visually bland and brown.

After initially being meh towards 7, I've really been warming up to it. I recently got to finally play it in VR and holy crap the house becomes a lot more terrifying. Also, the additions to the lore are quite interesting. Hopefully 8 doesn't drop the ball.

Edit: And yes, RE2 remake was indeed amazing and a great return to form. I'm really looking forward to the 3 remake.

That's what really kills it for me, the environments are just so drab and boring, it gets old fast.

I really hated that trend during the 7th gen of so many games having almost no color to them whatsoever, why did anyone ever think that looked good?

When they were hyping the 5th game up it was so unfair, because the HYPE was very strong, and I thought there was a possibility of there being a decent sociopolitical message within the game. Nope, there wasn't, and it was an alright game, but it felt more broken than 4, and it was clear that Shinji Mikami yeeted himself from Capcom due to the fact that they were just going to keep doing derivative things to milk as much as they could from 4, and to capitalize on the COD formula like every other developer wanted to do back then. 5, and its ways to get unlimited ammo, enemies that weren't as ergonomically killed(some artificial difficulty in the form of weird mechanics), and the story that was mindless and cheesy, just wasn't Resident Evil. 4 had dna from RE within it, not just because Mikami was involved, but just that it had limitations and some survival horror elements still. 5 and 6 were the bastard children and it wouldn't matter if they were a separate franchise to me. If companies want to do side projects, they should be named as such, and not mainline titles. 5 could have had a more realistic take on it similar to sectarian violence amidst similarities to ebola and civil unrest. But nope, just shoot black people in Africa. (Apparently, the team went to Africa to take photos for reference, but why bother when you just use a fucking Zebra texture?)

Maybe? I wonder if Capcom will re-release it and if it'll have all the content Valve made for it.

I mean, I think we all know it ain't gonna happen but it would be nice if it did.

I just meant that with the current day 'C-virus' in China, thinking about modding RE6 really gets the noggin' joggin'.

Resident Evil 6: Wu Long edition. Complete with the goverment not sending in all confirmed cases of the C-Virus, and all locations being renamed to Cities around ground zero.

Anyway, back on track, i'm really excited for RE3. I recently played the original and it definitely is a different animal from 2 or any of the others. It's more action oriented, but the bones of RE are still there, it's just a different strain of dna that's there. So, for the remake, I think they are playing it pretty close to the original formula, and the character designs are very good. I just hope that some more music tracks are more recognizable and melodically diverse, because the RE2 remake had unique tracks but they were mostly understated and what themes or melodies that were from the original were changed to flourishes or didn't linger for too long. I think that the developers wanting more atmosphere and an immersive experience was partially the cause for these changes, but I really need memorable tracks in my games.
 
My problem with 5 was that it just plain boring. The gunplay and melee lacked the punch of 4. When you kicked someone or blew their head off in 4, there was a weight to it; the sound design and visuals came together to enhance the brutality of the gameplay. In 5 however, headshots and punches just didn't have that same effect (which quite frankly was a common problem with a lot of games around that time). It just didn't feel as satisfying to blow off an enemies head.

The AI partner also sucked. They kept wasting bullets and with the limited inventory it became annoying to have to constantly babysit them. I usually just gave them a stun rod and let them fend for themselves.

Also I usually play 5 with the control scheme that emulated 4's controls and it fucks me up every time because the shoot and reload buttons are reversed in 5 which always, always causes me to do the wrong thing.
