One in game explanation could be that maybe the city planner of Racoon city was a Japanese immigrant? That doesn't explain why the forests even resemble Japan though.
Right, and the bugs underneath the Baker estate are indigenous to Japan. I think it's just irreconcilable.

I always think back to the EGM review of Max Payne. It starts off similar to New York but, by the time you're parkouring around a Hellfire Club, "forget it; you're in Max's world."

Worth it just for Wesker mode, which is a fun addition. Even if his heat vision looks stupid.

I believe this is only time you play as third-person Wesker outside of Mercenaries mode.
Never got it, tbh. Now I just reached the Academy, but I'm on low everything.

Like I said, it's the developers figuring that the forests they grew up in are probably like that elsewhere in the world. A tree is a tree, right?

Rebeca: The name is Rebeca chambers...but that's officer chambers to YOU!

Billy: Well then Rebeca Why don't you go and try while I wait here?

Did anyone else get flashbacks to this when she said that?

Spongebob: That's hall monitor to you!

Patrick:Sorry officer.

Rebecca's just a medic, albeit with combat experience if we take 0 as canon.
Apparently everything from 1-8, CV, 0, and rev 1/2 are confirmed 100% canon. Everything else I suppose is “canon” until proven otherwise.

I know that feeling. Growing up in the US you see the entire world looking like the US in your mind.

Anyone played Siren? It reminds me of a cross between RE, Silent Hill, and Ringu
I played it when it first released waaaaay back in 2004 but found it much too difficult and obtuse to finish.

I have been meaning to try again (I since bought a copy) as I feel I could probably be able to beat it now and it's one of the few PS2 horror games I haven't beaten, I did dig how the vibe of the game is basically "what if Stephen King wrote a story set in Japan?"

I haven’t, although it is interesting how one of the silent hill writers worked on the games.

I’m also wondering why Forbidden Siren 2 only released in Europe and Japan.
I'm still mad about the sequel never coming to the US as it's supposed to be much better.

I gave the first one a shot and played Siren 2 on an emulator about halfway

I may sound like a pussy, but I couldn't keep going cuz it freaked me out too much. Everything in that game is so offputting, down to everyone's faces being a photo scan. The chibitos move weird, can't get killed and using chibito vision to avoid them gave me anxiety.

As a game it's just not my jam, but I would love to read it as a book

Remember when Hunters were smol?

They should just split he timeline. Old-school RE and Nu-RE. Makes everyone happy.
Nu-RE is faggy, on the nose retarded, and loud and dumb. I know if the original games had access to the tech we have now they'd probably end up the same. Everything would be action and stupid characters being loud.

What little nuance and subtlety the original few games had was due to the limits of technology, but managed to add so much to each story. Fuck Capcom until they reboot the franchise entirely and recognize what made it work.

REmake and 2make are the definitive versions.
3make is a not bad game; just a starkly different one. Cutscenes are full of cringey 'Throwminator" moments. Any real person would have their windpipe crushed.
