A gay Marine is possible now, yes.

An autistic, stoner Marine on welfare? Not happening.

Why is Jace against da homos anyway?

Same reason Bob Allen/George Rekers/Larry Criag/Ted Haggard/Matt Sanchez hates da HOH-MOHS....people hate in others what they most deeply hate in themselves.

Three words:

Marine Weed Lair.

Speaking of Marines and weed, I'm not a Marine myself, so I don't have a clear answer. I believe that past marijuana usage does not necessarily bar one from entry, but it might fuck with your chances. It is a very competitive job, as being a Marine is considered a prestigious position by many. That's why it's called The Few and The Proud. I'm pretty sure Jace does it every time he can get his hands on a bag, so we know where this is going.

Of course, if we go to war again, recruiters may care less, but if you are trying to get in, it's best not to bring it up if it can be helped. I know a guy who was in the Army National Guard whose squad mates smoked weed (among other substances) and they still got cleared for recruitment. But burning plant matter aside, his behavior is probably the primary reason he can never make it into the Corps he claims to hold in high regard. To say nothing of his delusions.

Past usage doesn't, and probably never will, matter to the recruiter. You can even tell the TS/SCI interviewers that you smoked a few times without them caring. We had former dealers, users, and even a couple (former) low level gang members in our SCIF, with no problems. Hell, my mother and father joined up as a car thief and a bar brawler, respectively. Now she's an HR consultant and he's a nurse. The Marines were actually taking convicted felons (with a waiver) in 2008. I'm sure they've stopped now, and for the record, the Army took substantially more. The Navy was even recruiting out of Tijuana jails back in the 90's.

The military has gotten much more strict recently, but for the most part, as long as you can pass the drug tests at MEPS and Basic, you're in. Of course, a daily user would have to quit completely for 40-60 days(!) in order to actually pass the drug test, and if you come into the recruiters office and tell him all about how your hobbies are "game and blaze brah" he's probably not going to be particularly interested in you. Even if he was interested, he still wouldn't be able to recruit Jace, since you can't join the military if you've ever been on SSDI anyway. If you're too disabled to work a normal job, you're way too disabled to join the military, and those diagnoses never, ever, go away. Hopefully he'll grow out of this whole "Marine" phase at some point, and focus on his writing.

I seriously doubt he's going to give up his dreams that easily. I do know that most things that are not permanent are no big deal, as long as you put enough distance between them and the time you seek to join. I know that you can't have had any therapist meetings for over a year in most cases, and I'm not entirely sure about the SSDI thing. It probably doesn't help, though.

He's being bragging that he knows Elder Scrolls and yet he babbles about Oblivion being the 1st in the series? Holy shit.

It sure is! Everyone knows Morrowind is just a spin-off.

And Daggerfall? Oh, that didn't exist too.

At least if you're going to lie about being a gamer, be specific with your facts.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN I'M LYING? I'M A REAL GAMER AND A FUTURE MUHREEN!

FUDCK U KIWI FORUMS

Jace is as serious about joining the Marines as Chris was about working for a comic book publisher, i.e: not very. They both want (wanted in Chris' case) to be associated with whatever it is that they find attractive about the profession, but neither of them has the slightest intention of doing the required work.
