Rest in Peace Nigel the Gannet - The end of the most tragic romance since Grape-kun

Nigel "no mates", a lonely New Zealand gannet who lived his life on the edge of the cliffs of an uninhabited island, has been found dead alongside his partner - a concrete replica bird.

Nigel had been on Mana Island for five years and was besotted with one of the 80 decoys spread across the island.

Conservation ranger Chris Bell, who found Nigel's body last week, said his passing was "incredibly sad".

"This just feels like the wrong ending to the story," Mr Bell said.

Nigel was found next to his immobile concrete partner, who was part of a fake colony created to help lure gannets to Mana Island off the west coast of New Zealand's North Island.

Rest in peace, Nigel. I hope you and Grape-kun find in death the peace and love you so deserved in life

Rape and pedophilia are not uncommon in birds. What about birds that push other species eggs out of the nest and lay their own? There's another bird I think found in the Galapagos islands that always has two chicks and only allows one to live, pecking the weak one to death. To try to twist this as a mentally ill sex offending bird is just retarded when nature does far worse things all the time.

Idiots don't realize that a huge amount of natural bird mating behaviors involve a male chasing a female until she is too exhausted to resist, then having his way with her and moving on.

A "Rape Flight" is actually a recognized avian mating behavior term for this.

Also female Gannets usually get aggressive or fly away if they're not interested in a male's attention. So Nigel probably assumed that his waifu never flying away when he approached all the time was her accepting him as a mate.
