Retro games and emulation - Discuss retro shit in case you're stuck in the past or a hipster

So what's the deal with that PS2 emulator DaemonPS2? With all the talk about Aether I suddenly remembered Daemon but I also remember alot of people hating it, I'm curious to why that was?
Because it has data miners in it and uses stolen pcsx2 code. You also have to pay for it but its easy enough to pirate. Its shit though and the only reason to use it is because there was nothing else. That's changing very soon.

Are we finally getting a decent PS2 emulator? Nah, no way.
This just popped up, the fact that they're opting for the older dualshock design rather than the DS5 seems to indicate that more stuff favoring older games may be in the works. The PS5 has some limited abilities to use older playstation controllers so the capabilities are there under the surface. There's already some existing patents relating to PS2/PS3 emulation on modern platforms, but nothing has been officially announced.

Polycarbonate is resistant to IPA. I don't know where you got this from.
Using just plain ass IPA out of the bottle will dry too quickly to be usable as a worthwhile cleaning solution, and like with almost any plastic, repeated, prolonged exposure can cause brittleness over time through contact and whatever 'seepage' there may be. (And on cheaper manufactured discs, 'milkiness' on the pc layer as a whole, though this was a more DVD specific phenomenon). Guess I was overzealous in my wording though, that's my bad. Most people won't face that issue.

So there is a challenge I've been trying to see if I can find an answer to. Maybe you guys can help. I have one of the base model Super Everdrives for snes and I'm trying to see if I can load just game music as like a playlist to playback on console.
Basically, I would like to pop in my cart and have a playlist like this
Does anyone have any experience with everdrives and if this is even possible?

There's a ton of chiptune roms, I'm sure you could learn assembly in an afternoon, reverse engineer that code, and then adjust the soundfonts to fit. Eh idk

I found that rom board in a basement. I'm sure it's worthless without the full JAMMA board or whatever. Too bad I'm not that into arcade games

So ive been considering getting a ps2 tomorrow which model is the best fat or silm heard the fat has poor laser quality while silm overheats

Fat + FreeMcBoot + HDLoader + Ethernet adapter (so you can plug in the HDD, it really does need this) + big HDD + WinHIIP is the absolute best way to go if you can obtain all of that

Though if you actually wanna play discs, then slim. I've never had mine overheat before

I didn't answer because I honestly didn't know, but I personally use .pbp files for the handful of PS1 games I emulate. They're nice because they're the format you use to get them to work on PSPs & Vitas, and you can merge multi-disc games into one file. Search for PSX2PSP if you want to build out your own.
I wasn't aware until now that it was actually possible to use those formats elsewhere, I thought they were exclusively used for the official Sony emulator.
Thanks for the tips, @MysticLord too.

BRO. I loved this game so fucking much as a child. Like, I had EXTREME autismo when it came to this game. I would play it over and over and over and over again no matter how many times I beat it. I would just replay it again.

This shit was also GAS.

So now we have new patents for old playstation style controllers for new hardware, trophy support for older games, and now Playstation 1-3 emulation on the PS5.

Clearly something is in the works.
