Surprisingly there is no progressive infiltration. No lgbtqxyz bullshit, the female characters aren't written to be annoying, there is no poc/minority character who schools Guybrush about oppression etc... It's just another Monkey Island game in this regard.
Also one good thing about the game is that the relationship between Elaine and Guybrush is one between people who love each other. This is what I hated about the later games; Elaine was an angry harpy who despised Guybrush most of the time but that's not the case in this game. A progressive game would have doubled down and made Elaine a woman who don't need no man and would have been even more agressive and mean to her husband.
I'm playing this, it's fun. I'm not sure why they designed characters in that horrible corporate-art style, but the presentation overall is good in spite of that. The puzzles are not very hard, and I'm fine with that, at least they make sense.
