Is Scratchin Melodii the next big internet classic?

I think it was mentioned here before but Cytus had a similar deal with AI art. Though I understand the outrage because Rayark supposedly laid off a bunch of artists (unconfirmed rumor) while the game also is more focused on artistic direction. That was definitely more in bad taste imo.
For DDR's case like others have said you barely even see the jackets anyway so... what's the point?
It was talked about some pages ago. The funny thing is, when the Arcaea collab came out and they released new art, there was so much seething about AI again (they haven't stopped in months!) that the artist (Snowegg IIRC) had to go and basically say "IT'S NOT AI I MADE IT" :story:

I looked it up out of curiosity, the art is really nice and I have no idea how people thought it was AI. I feel bad for the artist for going through that. (:_(

We know you're just going to play it on your cracked private cab anyways Chris, you don't need to say stupid shit publicly like this lol.

He's literally giving himself a wheelchair because his poor poor feet can't handle a metal bracket. How embarrassing.

Honestly, for a music game like DDR where the average person isn't paying close attention to the song jacket 99% of the time besides making sure they're on the right song I suppose, who the hell cares? If it was like background videos or UI that'd be a different story but song jackets are not going to affect anyone's gameplay in any way. If I'm a big fan of the composition or chart, I could care less whether the song jacket of all things is AI-generated or not. I'm going to play it every time.

Also lol at konmai ever listening to a gaijin. DDR is definitely not a top priority series for them right now to just "hire more artists" for.

Yes, because everything made by a human is good and competent.

For flamenco the song jacket might not be that bad. The bgm on the other hand...

TECHNICALLY this one was in the home versions first (specifically DDRMAX2 USA PS2 and DDR Extreme Japan PS2) before it wound up on SuperNova arcade. Also it's jacket pre-DDRA still had the cooler looking font instead of that futuristic corporate looking shit

Fun Fact: This song is also rumored to be the replacement song for "Let Them Move", a 2nd Mix song that apparently Naoki was ashamed of making

Speaking of, that song's bg shares it with 2 other songs with the only difference being the time of day

Legit some of the best art and music (and my current playlist on stepmania for daily work out.
I tried to go for variety; there are just so many good background images that it's hard to pick. It'll never not make me laugh that a downtempo song called "Beginning-of-life" has a giant warmech with miniguns as its jacket, for some reason.

I'm gonna post more jackets/backgrounds I like for the hell of it. I'll limit myself to just 20 because I could go all day:

bonus: Did you know that if you were to print out the background for The Cube, it has markings to where you could cut it out and make an actual cube out of the song's logo?

crossposting from /r/antiwork thread: rhythm game tranny working $35/hr in LA with a full blown game room whines about being "broke" and the US a "a shit hole country"
Five new arcade machines that all cost about as much as a car, and he's whining about being broke despite living in one of the most expensive cities in the country, lol. I hope he has some true, actual hardship in his life someday.

KAC (Konami Arcade Championship) 2023 qualifications kicked off today, and all the communities (JP, US, KR) are mad at konmai being xenophobic japan and requiring participants be jyozu at nihongo (aka fuck you we're not providing translators) and paying for their own travels for the finals.

The previous Korean champs have declined to participate, while the Americans are making super cringe humor about learning Japanese.

That shouldn't be a surprise at all. Their arcade games are barely translated, even when officially released to foreign markets. It's already annoying enough that they can't even convert song titles into romanji, but it's just so hard to care about new song releases when most of them are just garbles of Japanese bullshit.

Even outside of DDR, Japan has always put themselves first before any other country when it comes to video games. Pokemon is a BIG example of that, all western players were getting the "Preeese Udderstand" treatment constantly. That's not even getting into how japan companies treat their western branch and how japan devs get better special treatment.

Why do these idiots act like this is some major crime when they've been pulling shit like this since the 90's?

At least Korean players have a valid reason of not attending, one of the points as stated by MINI and FEFEMZ was that that KAC was going to be held during school finals. At least they have their priorities.

Meanwhile Chris did try to learn Japanese for a bit back since 2017. Though it seems very little progress is made.
(No archive and SS since I'm on mobile sorry)

Imagine taking 5 years to study Japanese and you can't write answers in Kanji. :story:

playing rhythm heaven
fever, to be specific
I will never get the love for this entry, can someone here please explain it? I'm not even trying to be contrarian, I just don't like it nearly as much as the others so I'm curious as to why it gets so much love. Is it just because it has the broadest playerbase due to being on the Wii?
My general opinion on the series (or what i've played of it, since I haven't touched Megamix) goes DS > Tengoku > Fever, for reference

since I haven't touched Megamix
Think WarioWare Gold, except there's no extra controls. Every game uses the A/B buttons, including the DS ones that were touch-screen specific. There are some new stuff and extras to unlock, but you'll be pulling your hair out trying to 100% the game due to a pachinko game that gets VERY FRUSTRATING near the later levels.

Also each game has a gold star that you need to acquire. How you do this is that a star hole will be shown at the bottom of the screen and when a certain part of the song comes up (and for each song, the sections are always different and can be at the very beginning, or very end of the song), and then an outline of the star starts to close in on the hole. You have to get perfect timing on that part once the outline touches the hole of the star in order to get the gold star. If you're off by like a milisecond, it doesn't count.
