I just don’t know how you can look at the modern American white upper class and think those are the people that will turn things around.

Those are the EXACT people with “hate has no home here” signs in their yards, transgender and nonbinary children, and that throw money at NGOs that then turn around and use the funds to import more illegals into the West. And, most of all, those are the people that a) even know who Spencer is and b) would probably advocated for him to be jailed.

Spencer would literally have better luck getting through to a black drug dealer in the hood than a white upper class liberal.

Jesus, it’s so braindead it almost forces you to believe he’s a fed. How else could somebody be so stupid?

A former associate of Richard Spencer, Evan McLaren, does not have his own thread so let me dump some info here.

Shortly after taking over as head of the National Policy Institute in 2017, he resigned a year later.

In 2022 he publicly disavowed his involvement in all of his previous far-right activism (a).

In 2018 I left my position at the National Policy Institute. A few months later I cut contact with Richard Spencer, and eventually with everyone with any connection to the far-right political milieu.

I no longer have any sympathy for those causes, figures, and groups. While I do not traffic in regret, my involvement in right-wing activity was a desperate, foolish mistake, damaging to others, to myself, and to society.

While in 2017 I continued to dwell on the notion that the August rally in Charlottesville was a legally-permitted event and that the attendees were betrayed by law enforcement and the government, over time the reality took hold. Jason Kessler, the would-be speakers, and everyone who attended the rally were variously clownish, naive, reckless, or simply itching for a street fight with Antifa regardless of whether the event was “successful” or not. I was in the naive category.

I have been quiet since 2018, not maintaining a public social media presence or seeking attention for my opinions, and I intend to maintain this pattern. I thrive on family, work, fixing my house, and cultivating my hobbies. I lack the time, energy, or insight to regularly publish viewpoints that advance the public discussion, and regardless, it’s likely that the best move for someone who messed up as badly as I did is simply to go away and be quiet.

I’m momentarily breaking this pattern with a published statement. That people may assume I still hold radical views or remain actively connected to far-right political causes concerns me. I would understand, for example, if people in my local community who learned about me might worry about what I am up to, whether I hold and promote extremist views, or whether I’ll resume disruptive political activity in the future. Possibly worse, in my daily life I occasionally encounter Trump supporters, closet racists, and right-wingers of various stripes who learn about me and assume that I am some sort of sympathetic fellow traveler.

I am not and never will be connected to the far-right again. My revulsion for conservatism and the political right wing is total. I reject and disavow my past actions, views, and associations.

I apologize to everyone who was affected in any way by my past activities. The main purpose of this statement, however, is not to apologize. I do not realistically expect to repair my public reputation, to the extent that it meaningfully exists, or to heal rifts with people I have alienated. I don’t hope or expect to be forgiven. My only purpose here is that, on those occasions when someone happens to explore the Internet search results related to my name, they might also find this statement as an indication that, while I was a source of toxic energy and opinions in the past, I am at least not that anymore.

In 2024, he had another missive promising to be a voice against fascism (a).

In certain ways I have struggled with how to conduct myself, as someone who was involved for a long time in far-right politics and then later deradicalized. I certainly don’t avoid the topic, as anyone who knows me or follows me on social media can see. But my following is what it is, and I haven’t tried to build it by regularly creating content or otherwise raising my profile as an evangelist against the kind of movements in which I once participated.

Opposing extremism and fascism is urgently important, and I think the good guys can win. I’m not a doomer. The reason my outward activity level has been relatively low is because I am suspicious of myself. My past involvement in right-wing advocacy arose in part from an unsatisfied desire for attention, a need to be listened to as if I was something akin to an expert, even though I had done none of the hard work required to actually understand or accomplish anything.

Twenty years later, nothing has changed, other than that I am now an expert in my own frailty and record of toxic behavior, as well as thoroughly schooled in the rhetoric and propaganda of the Right. To me, every time I make an appearance, be it on someone’s podcast or in a three-minute TikTok, I have to overcome my dislike for inviting audiences to take seriously someone whose primary credential is that he eventually grew out of being a societal cancer. Growing up and moving on was certainly a great thing, but more is needed before I qualify myself as someone worth listening to.

What I can say to recommend myself as a voice against fascist movements is that I know right-wing conceits and turns of mind very well. Fascist rhetoric never distracts or confuses me because I am so familiar with it, and I have no need or desire to give quarter or to make allowances. I am especially immune to lying right-wing nonsense built up around Trojan horse notions of “free speech,” “entertaining both sides,” and the entire bogus narrative that conservative and right-wing ideas have not been given a fair hearing. I literally wrote a chapter in a book called A Fair Hearing: The Alt-Right in the Words of Its Members and Leaders, so I’m well qualified to make the call: it’s bullshit. Conservatism and the Right in all of its forms have gotten orders of magnitude more attention and promotion than their popularity or value merit.

Fascists need you to be “fair” to them so that they can have the time and opportunity to gain the upper hand.

You may sense by now that I am thinking through myself and preparing to justify my presence and voice because I feel I need to step up my activity. That’s partly because I simply miss writing and participating. But it’s mostly because I am beginning to sense that, if I want the concentric circles of community in which I and my family live to have strong immunity against fascism and right-wing weirdness, it’s on me to be the change I wish to see. If even I’m not taking anti-fascism seriously, why should anyone else? There aren’t many people who are better schooled in, say, coded, memetic right-wing propaganda and communication, or in the hazards that any degree of participation in fascism represents, both for the participants and for everyone else in society.

Unfortunately the far-right is a problem that is not going away anytime soon. The only serious, realistic path for me is to commit, and join with others to challenge it.

Besides studying a lot of math and coding for the bachelors degree in data engineering I’m pursuing, I’m currently reading Peter H. Wilson’s excellent book on the Thirty Years’ War, Europe’s Tragedy. That the 1648 Peace of Westphalia was foundational to the formation of European nation-states is an idea I picked up in school without ever really studying what it meant, so I’m circling back to the topic to see if I can learn something more substantial about it. I definitely have more to find out about things like confessional disputes and the imperial constitution.

Since I’m preparing to record a podcast on NRK and then participate in a panel discussion of American politics here in my little Norwegian town next month, I’ve also been consuming a lot of Norwegian-language content. Toward that end I made sure to read Hilde Restad’s book, Det amerikanske paradokset, which was surprisingly rewarding—I did not expect to get that much out of a book about American politics and society written by a Norwegian.

The next book I plan to order is John Ganz’s When the Clock Broke. I appreciate Ganz’s writing whenever I see it. Two weeks ago someone sent me an essay of his from 2017 on Murray Rothbard that not only reminded me how much Rothbard has to do with Trump and where we are now, but also included some information about Rothbard that even I didn’t know. Surprising, since I used to fill suitcases with Rothbard’s books when I went on vacation. (Apologies for ending this on a cringe note.)

He has a tiktok, spouting liberal platitudes like Jon Stewart from 2006. Right-wingers are just mean, bad word, negative association, bad.

Right after writing that, I sorted his most popular tiktoks. Here's the third most popular. Not joking.

Two weeks ago, he went on a Norwegian podcast where now lives. (He met his Norwegian wife on okcupid.) English starts at 3:25.

In April he went on Did Nothing Wrong (never heard of it either). More boring stuff.

Is this where I learn that the far left and far right are just two sides of the same hollyweird pedophile elite who are only at war due to jealously towards the other on who fucked the most kids? No wonder the dialougue has suddenly switched from epstein and trump to troons and furfags on the twitter. They found out victory was stolen from under them by jasonafex and his army of dog fucking child rapists while they were debating whether Matt Walsh or Vaush had the best al boreland from home improvement but a pedo cosplay.

Given his mentions of Rothbard, I get the strong impression this dude is just a pissy Mises Caucus style idiot. Probably a Curtis Yavin fanboy who got annoyed when his shitty ideology made the Libertarians fall apart into slop. Likely saw the far right as a tool to break the citadel and then realized he wanted to become a part of the Citadel.

Not quite like Dicky boy, who first tried to walk back to avoid going to prison like a poor before he got angry the hoi polloi didn't bow to him. But still lame.

Specifically given his obsession with Stewart, in the form of a late night show host. Which is funny given how these shows are failures and no one watches them now. None of them are hard hitting, edgy, or funny, since these retards can't be arsed to write their own jokes now.

Spencer is actually quite literally pro abortion via thinking eugenics is good. And yes this is an opinion he’s shared recently.
Yep. In current year plus nine, Spencer’s opinions on things are virtually indistinguishable from the modern Democratic Party. He just agrees with it for more racist reasons.

You seem pretty knowledgeable about him. Any way you can give a summary on Spencer’s current political views. He’s like an ironic democrat/lib and calls himself an Apollonian? Thinks the white nationalism/identitarian stuff shows it didn’t work so he decided to move onto something new? I can’t really wrap my mind around it.

Type Mark Brahmin into the thread search tab, I had a post earlier explaining it.

Basically Mark Brahmin invented an internet meme religion-that claimed the Jews invented like…all western culture and history. From Nordic mythology(Jewish propaganda) to the Bible and christianity(obviously) too well basically everything else. You see gods aren’t real-they are basically just reified racial archetypes that are used to mobilize, discipline and advance the cause of one race or another.

So “Jewish” gods-like Jesus, Dionysus, Mercury-basically taking bits of the zeitgeist, the golden bough, the Christ myth theory, and some other ideas in the history of mythology and religious studies-to claim the Jews subverted Greek religion and basically uh well something something Jews wanting to have sex with White women something secret messaging.

Mark and Spencer call themselves “Apollonians”-they basically mean Apollo is a sort of idealized archetype of the Aryan race. They don’t actually believe Apollo the deity exists. He’s just a sort of symbolic creation, same with every other deity.

Suffice to say, it’s a load of rubbish. Mark Brahmin is a pseud with no understanding of anything-much less Jewish history, Christian history or theology, archaeology, literature or Ancient Greek and Roman religion, indo European languages or anything else. But it’s gained something of a following.

Spencer also promotes what you might call Aryan Atlanticism. That is this notion that elite Whites that are generally liberal in their social views are actually high status and eugenic-as opposed to the conservative lumpenproles. Which basically means supporting Ukraine and NATO but because White people predominate these institutions, not for their liberalism.

This tracks with Brahmin’s notion of some Aryan vanguard inventing a new religion and overthrowing Abrahamism.

What Spencer says publicly-and what he says privately are two entirely different things. Spencer is still a “White supremacist”. He just believes that White supremacy has been suborned by the Jews basically conning White people and providing their entire mythology and cultural product for the last…4,000 years or something(no seriously-he claims that the Jews were somehow tricking Aryans in like 1,000 BC-Homer is Jewish you see because the Iliad has Apollo support Troy and that means it um demoralizes Aryans or something).

In public I think he presents as a sort of “passed on White nationalist” who grew out of the movement, and in some sense I think he has. He clearly is embarrassed by what he feels is it’s low class status and it’s anti intellectualism(though Spencer himself is hardly one to talk).

He may also be under court order.

TLDR: Spencer is publicly a smarmy commentator and privately, at the very least cheerleads for a meme “the Jews did everything and so we aryans got to rise up” religion.

Spencer is just bitter towards the movement and is probably weary after Charlottesville and the lawsuit. He's not wrong about elements of the dissident right being trashy however his embrace of liberalism is complete folly and fake.

Like Ishtar said above their ideology is obviously retarded. If the Jews were responsible for half of what they claimed why not just embrace Jews at that point because they're obviously far superior to everyone else lol. The truth is Western civilization isn't the result of Jewish subversion. It's a long complicated history. The fact that Spencer banks his intellectual future on Brahmin speaks to his inability to size up people properly.

Basically Spencer & Brahmin are full of shit. They're just lazy intellectually.

To give a summary of the basic ideas of Apollonianism(because it’s entirely divorced from any historical grounding or tangible structure)

REM-racial esoteric moralization, Brahmin‘a thesis is basically that culture and art have a moralizing or demoralizing effect on a race. What he means by this I’ll get too-but he claims basically most western culture is REM-that is it subtly demoralizes aryans and encourages Jews.
Dionysic or Cthonic deities-basically the whole “rising and dying gods” thesis, this idea does have some basis in the study of indo European and near eastern religion, a set of deities tied to rebirth, exuberance, wine, basically wild passion and the lack of restraint. Hence he claims Dionysus and Bacchus are Jewish inventions(despite that Dionysus was worshipped in Mycenaean Greece but Brahmin will literally claim the Jews were there somehow).
Bride gathering cult-the Jews want Aryan genes.

For REM imagine say a story with a character that has a name Brahmin can say is Jewish or Jewish coded(basically any name in the Bible, the entire etymology is shot through), that wins and gets the blonde girl. Let’s call him IDK John, John beats say Brad(who esoterically represents aryans) and gets Stacey. The idea being the Jewish character winning in the plot(even if said character is not remotely Semitic just Brahmin’s own ridiculous Illuminati esque attempt at connecting names)-demoralizes Aryans, and empowers Jews.

How you might ask? Well here’s the kicker it means Jews get sex with Aryan women and the White jock loses.

The entire notion here being that religion and art are not just ultimately instruments of racial warfare but ultimately sexual subversion. Brahmin and his associates have literally claimed that art, philosophy, abstract reasoning in general, even music is basically Semitic-that is it allows the Jew or the proto Jew(as Mark claims Jews emerged as basically the priest caste in western Eurasia*) to subvert Aryan warrior elites. “Any thinking about abstraction is Jewish”. One of them has explicitly said.

*Brahmin’s grasp of history is really really bad. He will use his YouTube conspiracy/Wikipedia scrolling etymology to posit some sort of Jewish influence where it doesn’t exist. And imagines Jewish bards, artists, etc… somehow inventing European mythological tropes and narratives-that actual academics can trace back to the indo European migrations btw.

You’ll note Brahmin rejects the historicity of the Bible, but doesn’t ever say to what degree, (though his supporters have given varied explanations) and is of course a Christ mythicist.

Apollonianism is a mishmash of internet “do your own research” pseudo expertise, some background in older academic ideas(the golden bough, Baeur’s skepticism about the historicity of Jesus-basically just Christ mythicism in general, comic book aesthetics and comical sexual insecurity and anti intellectualism, I’d also tentatively add some basic readings of Gobineau and Alfred Rosenberg’ in particular the latter’s Myth of the 20th century. Though if Brahmin has actually read Gobineau, Rosenberg or indeed Houston Stewart Chamberlain or just online summaries is an entirely open question.

About the only things I would say have some weight is the jesus/Dionysus comparisons-the idea of a god that overcomes death, is connected to freedom, etc… something even early Christian’s acknowledged. That said Brahmin doesn’t engage with the current scholarship on literally anything. Not indo European linguistics, or Jewish history, near eastern archaeology, Christian history, Roman and Greek religious studies, or anything else.

It looks authentic to the uneducated reader-because one Brahmin tries to present himself as authoritative and imperious, and two-he uses Wikipedia a lot. But if you actually go through the weeds, as well as use a bit of common sense, you’ll find it’s an utterly vacuous hole of nonsense swallowed by atheists that are also into Roman aesthetics and are racists.

In short it’s a mishmash of ideas and aesthetics-mostly nonsense with just the smallest smidgeon of historical awareness and basic mythographic comparisons(you don’t say Bacchus and Dionsysus are similar) that it appeals to Grug retards. Who find the higher pursuits of life effeminate and boring.

@TheBigRevelator, long ramble but I can never talk enough about how bad Apollonianism is.

I still remember Brahmin arguing with Jay Dyer about how actually the story of Jacob, Laban & the sheep in Genesis is really about Jacob tricking Laban with the sheep which supposedly represents a form of race mixing on an esoteric level. Brahmin analogizes the mixing of different flocks & colors of sheep being akin to race mixing between Whites & Jews or something.

There's a whole backstory to that relationship between Jacob & Laban which has nothing to do with supposed "esoteric promotion of race mixing" or whatever the fuck he believes. It has everything to do with maintaining good familial relations & not lying while trusting the lord. Brahmin conveniently leaves out the fact that Laban is Jacob's uncle by blood & isn't some random Aryan that Jacob dupes. In fact it is Laban that deceives Jacob first.

This is my big issue with Brahmin. He's either delusional or I suspect, just lazy intellectually. He's obviously never read the Bible nor has he ever engaged with any type of serious biblical scholarship. The guy is pathologically insecure & sees ghosts where there are none.

This is the guy Richard has put his intellectual faith into. They're supposedly releasing a book soon (lmao) so we'll see. Richard, like Brahmin is just extremely lazy intellectually, it's no wonder he ended up dropping out of Duke and falling into the nonsense he fell into. I'm sure his parents are disappointed as hell.

Brahmin had a radix article where he said string theory was like “secret Jewish esoterica about crypto Jews”-it was the most comical article ever. (It was also bashing Einstein because Jewish). You could smell the insecurity bubbling off.

I remember reading that article-and you could tell Brahmin actually feels deeply insecure about his intellect, at the end with him claiming the Aryan race needs polymath geniuses to beat the Jews.

As for Laban-Brahmin would probably claim that “uh well esoterically Laban represents the Aryan” or something. It’s entirely unfalsifiable nonsense.

It’s even more odd to me he doesn’t engage with academic scholarship-which btw is hardly Christian apologia. Like most secular scholars will claim things like the Israelites are indigenous to Canaan, and the conquest narrative was invented. These would be easy layups for him to make. But he doesn’t.

I get the impression Brahmin is probably not the brightest or most scholarly sort and at some level he knows this, and it makes him feel deeply vulnerable and insecure, he feels genuinely threatened by intellectuals. Hence the core of his meme religion will be “the nerds will literally steal white women”.

It sounds like REM is just the plot of Revenge of the Nerds

I do think he got the concept from comic books and 90s romantic comedies actually yes.

More generally, I think Brahmin is deeply suspicious of abstraction itself.

Art, religion, philosophy, science, math, etc…

He is notably a sports ball fan. And his Apollo advertisement video can be summarized as “White inventors and guys doing stuff”.

You see this with some of his followers expressing the notion that all abstraction is Jewish, but for Brahmin in particular-he can’t understand something that isn’t tangible and intuitive-so he immediately thinks it’s some secret priestly class trying to depose warrior elites.*

*a concept he got from Nietzsche but doesn’t really understand.
