I don't think he's a sociopath. He clearly has emotions, in fact, he's ruled by them. He's a narcissist if ever there was one. Literally everything he does screams "ME ME ME Pay attention to mmmmmeeeeee". He is incapable of talking about something without relating it to himself. There is a growing body of research that suggests that narcissists are actually split into two categories: Invulnerable (overt or grandiose) and vulnerable(covert): Invulnerable narcissists are what most people think of when they think of narcissism.
They're the ones with massive egos, who must be praised, cannot accept the idea of being wrong, and are immune to being criticized. They don't care what other people think of them, they're hot shit, they know it, and everyone better realize it or else.
Vulnerable narcissists on the other hand have very fragile egos, and collapse into depression and self-pity if they're not given the worship they feel is their due. They'll go to therapy until they recover from the depression, then they go back to being egotistical and quit attending. As should be obvious, according to this theory, Fire is a vulnerable narcissist. I seriously doubt he's suicidal when he goes to the hospital, it's just another way of getting sympathy. His lack of planning for the future speaks volumes about his ego. He seriously expects someone to recognize how great he is and to take care of him, because working for a living is beneath him. He hasn't said it, but it's clear that's how he feels.
