Rick should have stumbled up to the toon team, barfed all over them, and all the drugs in his stomach give them superpowers and that's how they beat the goon team.
The Hellraiser (never seen those movies) parody ep was half mediocre A plot, zombie Simpsons tier B plot that was completely stupid. Trying to make Summer a more important character just isn't working.

Shitting on Jerry is getting kind of old, but they actually acknowledge that by saying Rick will go to hell and back for Jerry and might actually become his friend one day, maybe because Beth loves him and Rick loves Beth.

I watched the last episode and it was....there.
More shitting on Jerry, which really peaked in Season 3 with Rick and Jerry's adventure to the space theme park. After that episode, going back to the well of Rick humiliating Jerry just feels like old hat.
And Morty and Summer's subplot with the new kid and the Ship reeked of dart board writing, like they set it up and then came up with random nonsense to fill the time.
It was an inoffensive episode, but I sure wouldn't call it good.

I miss what season 1 had. Beth and Summer are just plain mean sometimes. At least the latest episode makes mention of how Beth and Rick feeding off of each other creates a lameness even greater than Jerry. Just another reminder that Rick is a flawed creature that was never meant to be admired or emulated.

The A plot felt very generic Rick and Morty, like a formulaic filler episode. They also said cringe a lot.
The B plot felt like an American Dad episode sloppily rewritten for Rick and Morty. The kids trying to make a cool transfer student named Chutworth into their friend because he doesn't know they're lame yet by stealing a sci fi gadget feels more like something Steve and Hayley woulda done instead of Morty and Summer (and Steve and Hayley woulda done it better too). Especially calling him Chutworth over and over again.

The new episode felt again like something from the early seasons of Rick and Morty but it's just not very interesting (though at least it doesn't involve underage sexual stuff).
The Hellraiser is based on a deliberate misunderstanding of the source, it's not the idea of "bad is good", but wanting more and more excess of emotions and excitement (probably because it will be considered hateful due to being too close to home for the lgbt community). Everything else is a boring shit take on the film, that is based on a film series older than 90% of the watchers by at least a decade.
The B plot is just shit happening with Morty and Summers acting like they did in season 2.
You could compare the episode to the one they entered into a hobo's body, but that at least had a horrifying theme park inside it.

Just watched the Thanksgiving special. What the fuck was that?
There's something to be said about the lower budget charm of the earlier seasons, rough animation aside. Now that they have more money they spend it on meaningless action scenes and the dumbest episode premises they've ever had. They're just not well executed. I am wondering what you guys thought of the social commentary in this ep though.

OK, I actually enjoyed this episode at least a little bit.
It was a wacky and fun episode that highlighted the Keith David president more, and he has grown on me as a really fun addition to the show. And the Thanksgiving theme actually provided some solid jokes.
And hey, they took jabs at Congress and the Office of the President, which shocked me because I thought that was taboo nowadays. (Unless its Trump)
The episode had the problem that alot of the newer episodes do in that they provide a ton of filler with mindless action, but the stuff inbetween was at least funny.
