Rick and Morty

It was a good episode.

Also, one thing I noticed is how this episode retcons one of Rick's previous defeats.

Remember the Pickle Rick episode? The writer of that episode was bragging about Dr, Wong having "the last word on Rick" and putting him in his place.

That episode ended with Dr. Wong giving a speech about Rick deconstructing Rick, and Rick didn't have a witty reply to her... and then this episode revealed that nope, it turns out Rick doesn't respect her at all, and he thinks she is just a joke beneath her.

Not that I mind either way.

EDIT: Also how in the FUCK was Evil Morty able to not only reform, but then subsequently take over, the Galactic Federation that fast? I know he has the power of several thousand Ricks at his disposal, but like...how exactly did the escalation happen?

Did he? I don't remember them mentioning him at all on his episode. I'm not being sarcastic by the way, just asking because I might've missed that part.

Not that I mind either way. But I'm willing to bet Harmon didn't like a minor character managing to beat Rick that easily so he changed it to make clear Rick is the dominant one here.

Right, meant to clarify that: he wasn't actually shown in the episode, more mentioned in passing.

It's more that Tammy made a passing mention of him, and that it was heavily hinted this is what happened, with her being led by someone "half her age" (which at first I thought she was talking about the bugs, but then that joke wouldn't make any sense considering it hasn't even been a year in-universe, let alone 9 (since Tammy would've been ~18-ish at this point), since we've last seen her or the downfall of the Galactic Federation), the fact that the New Galactic Federation wasn't immediately destroyed again, despite them killing their supposed "leader" and their Death Star, the constant Star Wars character/location analogies the episode kept shoving in your face making Tammy the Vader in this situation working for some unseen Palpatine, and that (unless I just have really bad eyesight) alongside the New Galactic Federation logo, you can see glimpses of the New Citadel's logo from the end of "Tales of the Citadel" scattered about.

Granted I could just be looking way too deeply into this, and I'm basically autistic theory-crafting at this point, but it's something.

The finale was alright, it had some good moments but still suffered from way too many plot lines and the characters personalities once again going 180 (with Jerry going back to his season 1 self). Also while call backs are nice, I dread the show will become a call-backs shitshow like Community did.

I don't think we'll ever get the unique set of circumstances that led to Community getting bad.

Well fuck you bitches now I have to torrent the finale.

I think it's a usual Hollywood case of the person spearheading production (Harmon) getting more and more production freedom, firing any person that isn't his friend/fuck-buddy or a yes-man. Causing an inevitable decline in quality towards whatever retarded shit the producer's clique likes rather than what actual sane people like (in the case of Community - Call backs and talking about tropes rather than character interaction with actual jokes).

It's finally over?

Caught up on the last 3 episodes and they were terrible.

So is "The season ends with Rick getting karmic justice because he is a terrible person, only to completely ignore/whitewash that in the next season premire" a thing now? cause I think it has happened every season except the first now.

The final episode was just as shit as all the rest this season. Beth is a trash person, Jerry continues to be worthless, Morty and Summer are useless and irritating and Summer's voice actor has the most annoying way of talking. The episode was all over the place and filled with the usual detatched irony and lazy pop-culture references but hey Rick was sad at the end with a maudlin song playing so the show has "heart" right?

I liked the final episodes, they were more sci-fi adventures tham anything else. What I dont understand is why everyone is shitting on Rick because of the cloning, Beth surrendered one of the most difficult desicions a person can male, what to do with your life, to somebody else, like what a little child would do. Of course is a a really difficult desicion, so you cant blame Rick for not wanting to know which one is which as to keep his relationship with his daughter intact.

So he bitched out and had his cake and ate it too. That is really the entire problem with the show and it's writers.

They think they are entitled to having cake and eating it too. They want Rick to have "An Arc" but they also want him to be an unbeatable God.

They want Jerry to be an everyman, but they also want to kick him and shit on him at every point.

They Want Morty to grow smarter and more independent..but they also want him to be Rick's bitch at every point.

They want to "Lambaste" the Story they are telling with that shitty train episode..but they also want to do every bit of that to a perfect T.

Pretty sure no one in this thread was saying that the show has "heart" now because of the season finale. They were more glad that they finally decided to progress the plot instead of giving us another episode where nothing happens.

You mean like they were going to have Rick pay for his crimes at the end of season 2? where it turns out it was all a plan to destroy the council of ricks, the galactic feds..and get Jerry kicked out?

I meant more so the plot regarding the galactic federation. I don't really care about Rick supposedly getting his comeuppance.
