Marx grew up in a ethnically Jewish family that converted to Christianity. His grandfather was a Rabbi. His Marxism owes much to Millennialism.
 
A large portion of the Bolshevik party were Brooklyn jews that emigrated to Russia after it looked like the reds had won in the late 19 teens, around 250 of them.
