I wouldn't exactly dismiss pre-colonized America from a modern lens.

I haven't had time to read your link yet but I will say that my own views on history and ancient peoples are very tinfoil hat-esque. I think that they were much more advanced than our history books give them credit for and that a lot of very important knowledge has been lost to time or suppressed by greed. But that doesn't make for a very good meme.
