Real bummer Eddie past away but the rock and roll livestyle of drugs do leave an impact rock stars and I know at least Dave Mustaine and Bruce Dickinson had or have throat cancer. Eddie brought a golden age of guitar playing and the super strat era which they are my guilty music instrument pleasure. Even with his career up and downs he left to be a rock god and certainly aged better than David Lee Roth.

I almost got a chance to see them a few years back, but they had to cancel the show because Diamond Dave was sick.

I'm blasting 1984 in his memory right now.

I always loved how much he mixed up what could've been a very boring Eruption repeat every time he played. This is from 5 years ago. Check out how he uses the volume knob to adjust the hammer-on attack during the bit that sounds like Cliffs of Dover.

I'm never too good with these things, but man, this year can choke on cancer. VH is probably one of my favorite 70/80s bands and is one of the biggest reasons I even listen to rock these days.

RIP Eddie, I really wish his family well in these times.

Like Megadeth, Van Halen was before my time & even though neither are my favorite band, the talents of Eddie Van Halen and Dave Mustaine alike still command respect from anyone who appreciates any genre of Metal.

If someone perchance does not know why Van Halen has earned every ounce of praise ever bestowed upon him, listen to this or the same video at 08:10 and realize that he was the man who invented that sound. Every guitar player tapping away wildly, up and down their neck, owes that sound to this man. There are great musicians out there, who go to music school and perfect their playing and I admire them. But the fewest of the few can innovate an instrument, let alone to the degree that Van Halen has.

5:46 and 8:10

Rock in Peace, you astonishing virtuoso.

Wish I could've seen you live. Wish I could've heard you live.

As someone who was a child in the ‘80s, this is a part of my childhood that is now no more. I listened to 1984 on vinyl so many times when I was in elementary school that I wore out the record.
