Back in the day, I wrote for a zine (like this post if you know what those are) and I did a review of "Counterparts" in 1994. Awful album, and I referred to it as "Rush Lite."

Counterparts is pretty transparent trend-chasing of early 90's grunge/alt rock, but I can't completely hate it, since it produced arguably Rush's finest moment: having their ridiculous video with Lenny Kravitz featured in Beavis and Butthead.

 
Maybe my favorite band, only group I've deliberately seen. I've been avoiding the issue of Peart's death. This sucks, but of the 3 I think Lifeson is my favorite. I'll be devastated if I hear that.

I was raised on Rush by my dad, and Neil was his hero. Knew the lyrics to most of the Counterparts album by the time I was 4. One of my fondest memories with my dad was seeing Rush together and I caught a t-shirt Geddy threw from the stage. Doubt we'll see a drumming talent like him again any time soon
