Watched Blade Runner again last night. If it makes anyone feel any better, Hauer may have died the same year as his character, but not the same month; Blade Runner takes place in November of 2019.

So it wasn't completely accurate about the time of his death.

That movie goes from a strange, ultimately forgettable oddity of a movie to a "better than it has any right to be" film solely because of his performance. The choice to play his role straight while everyone else (well, except the female lead) plays parodies of real people, that was brilliant.
