RIP Thread

Thanks for remembering me that he died, asshole. Now I feel like crashing into slumber.

It's not gonna change whether you remember or not.

I've been trying to use Miura's passing as motivation for a lot of other stuff. I've made a lot of new friends because of it, gotten into more things a lot faster than I would have otherwise.

Honestly, that's the best way I can think of to honor him. To keep living the theme of the story he poured his whole life into bringing to the world: keep moving forward.

Not really dead, but reports are claiming he could spend over 200 years in prison

I know how you feel. Mine says he's going to live to be 100 and I'm holding him up to that.
My mom recently upped her claim from 106 to 113. She also says I'm not allowed to die before she does...

Me: Mom, I am not living into my mid-late 80s simply because you say so.

Granted her mom is going to be 99 later this year and we were pretty certain we'd be having a blow-out party for her next fall but Covid's kind of zapped her will to live and she's in serious cognitive decline. Not to mention yesterday she said she was ready to go be with her husband (who died in 1975).

I thought 2020 was bad, but 2021 is on its way to surpassing it in shittiness.

Between this and the passing of Dr. Kentaro Miura, it seems the old guard of famous fictional Japanese characters like Golgo and Guts are leaving into the afterlife.
Miyazaki-san can’t be far off either. Glad I ordered that scale model kit of Porco Rosso’s Savoia when I did.

Golgo13 was totally underrated, IMHO both anime and manga are one of the best ever made.
It certainly isn't underrated in Japan. It's properly revered there. I met this girl in Japan who told me her parents met over their love of the manga. The daughter loved it too.

It's sad that we also lost Sonny Chiba recently, who played Duke Togo in the second live-action film.
