I always thought his wrestling and promo work was the absolute worst and he only had his spot due to his dad being his dad. But a few years ago a friend of mine that works in wrestling went in to excoriating detail on why he was actually really solid performer and booker, even had me rewatch a few things from our youth to show me I was wrong. When the bartender saw what we were doing he had us chromecast it to the bar TV and we ended up watching a few more matches with half the bar getting really in to it. Guess it goes to show how good he really was

Having done some open water swimming, my complete and total guess would be "kicked in the head by accident" and there were no lifeguards nearby. The Games are not known for their safety. Especially with this sentence:

I mean, you really shouldn't need search and rescue if you have enough volunteers in the water (usually at the buoys), but tragedies happen.

my first triathlon a guy behind was grabbing my feet trying to get a free ride behind me. After trying to dodge him and pass him, he would still not let go. After that failed I tried my absolute fucking hardest to kick him in the head. I wish it had been this guy sinking to the bottom of the lake

I mean I'm sure people were inspired or captivated by this moment and his story before and after the internet. But for most people their knowledge of him starts and stops with this video. That's it. That's the magic. Just this one moment. This speech.

People don't love chopper. They love memes.

When I was directed to this thread from the RIP mention on the front page, I just so happend to be eating Chinese food at the time. I ordered the General's Chicken, and it was especially succulent. Even more so than usual. Explain that one, atheists..
