Christopher Tolkien and his struggle to preserve his father's legacy is by far the best argument for why copyrights should last for so long. He will be sorely missed.Christopher Tolkien, chairman of the Tolkien estate and the one who edited and published vast tracts of his father's unpublished notes and stories from Children of Hurin to The Fall of Gondolin, and a scholar and author in his own right, passed from this world today at the age of 95, and has gone to the halls of waiting to sit beside his father until the world is renewed.
Aside from his unparalleled contribution to the Tolkien lore and backstory, he was also the single most dedicated figure in preventing his fathers work being devoured completely by the hollywood machine. We can only hope his successors are just as vigilant.
Must admit I'm having a weep about this one. Sir Palin has been an amazing friend to him, I loved a news story where MP would read some of their books to Terry, and he only laughed at the parts he'd written himself! In 2015, Jones was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia, a form of frontotemporal dementia that impairs the ability to speak and communicate. He had first given cause for concern during the Monty Python reunion show Monty Python Live (Mostly) in July 2014 because of difficulties learning his lines. By September 2016, he was no longer able to give interviews. During an interview at the BFI & Radio Times Television Festival on 8 April 2017, fellow Python member Michael Palin revealed that Jones was no longer able to speak.![]()

Sounds like he got the lesser form of it early where he could still understand what he couldn't say himself, and was saying so. While taking a Python-like dig at a friend. This is sad. This is the first death of a core Python since Graham Chapman, but probably won't be the last in the near future. And of course Neil Innes just died, too. Sucks.

It can't be having the new mascot be transexual because if it was, it would be invisible.I'm just waiting for whatever marketing ploy this is a part of to surface.
