RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman.

We no longer have our Chris in the Our Pet Lolcow movie. :(

Beat me by ten minutes, and said the same thing I would have said. Put a stringy wig on him and would have been the perfect Chris. :heart-empty:

I love Hoffman, but why is it when a celebrity ODs, it's a tragedy, but when a regular guy ODs, he's a junkie loser?

I guess because a celebrity had talent and fame or something. I don't know. Still, that is a good question.

Now we have no one to cast as Chris in our movie. I guess we'll just have to cast Ben Affleck as the fat man and Jesse Eisenberg as Clyde.

We shall forever seymourn Hoffman. RIP

Firstly who said that was always the case? I remember when Amy Winehouse died in particular, people were like 'Saw it coming'. If/when Lindsay Lohan/Charlie Sheen finally die of drug overdose, people are going to look at them like junkie losers as well.

Secondly, people don't 'know' the regular guy in the same way they 'know' the celebrity. It's a question of perspective. The regular guy may be a good, decent guy that has/had problems with substance abuse but the people reading about it in the paper wouldn't know it, and the people who knew the regular guy probably wouldn't be hounded for comment.

OT: It's really sad about Hoffman, but what's particularly sad is that he had a girlfriend/partner, three young children and a very successful acting career and yet he was still shooting up.

The poor woman. She made such heartwarming movies.

Not to mention I loved the drinks named after her. Still do. I just call them "cherry sprite" now.
