The Mentors are the band that brought us parental advisory labels with legendary songs like Golden Shower:

Four F Club:

Sleep Bandits:

This isn’t timely, but I’ve nowhere better to post about this:
I learned today that 3/4 of The Bee Gees are dead, which is a worse survival rate than progressive rock groups. It’s worse than the Who and the Beatles. Fuck, it’s even worse than Skynyrd.
Bee gees front man Barry Gibb is living, plus a few early members from the 60's. That's not worse than Lynyrd Skynrd where Ricky Medlocke is the only member in the current version who ever played with the original band (he left before they recorded their first album), and a replacement drummer Artimus Pyle is living but not in the band. For bands that started in the 60s and 70s (Bee Gees started in 1958!) it's a miracle any of them are still alive or performing. We lost a lot from that era in 2024 but let's hope our living favorites stay well in 2025.

My favorite Bee Gees moment is when they had Barry's mongoloid daughter go onstage to hand him roses, then he rudely brushed her off the stage so they could begin the next song; and you can see the road crew member tasked with carrying her offstage like the prop she is fall down the stairs and drop her.

Britt Allcroft, creator of the TV version of Thomas the Tank Engine died at the age of 81 last December.
It's kind of crazy, not thinking about Thomas or trains ever since I was a kid, how much I realize her adaption really stuck with me when it came to my interests and hobbies later in life. It's kind of incredible she took such a big gamble that paid off with the Thomas show only to fumble it with a movie and step away.

RIP.
