I always thought it was kind of funny how they were all clean shaven before the show but tried to look like rednecks during it's run. RIP.
Yeah, I never cared for the show or the characters in it. I don’t hate them or anything, it just wasn’t for me. Nevertheless, RIP to someone that seemed like a decent dude.

Kids are often a poor copy of their dad, Phil was the legit the real deal southern dude. RIP.

Phil Robertson had a beard before the show started but it seems like all of his sons only started growing them sometime before Duck Dynasty aired.

I'd only seen the picture of the sons standing together so I had no idea the father's beard was preexisting.

Only OG fans will remember their Duck Commander TV series before Duck Dynasty blew up bigtime and they went full reality-tv. They were all much more geounded and didnt lean into the characters or beards so much.

Earlier this month, songwriter Roger Nichols died at the age of 84. He co-wrote three hit songs for The Carpenters ("We've Only Just Begun", "Rainy Days and Mondays", and "I Won't Last a Day Without You"). He also wrote for The Monkees, Barbara Streisand, Diana Ross, Petula Clark, and Art Garfunkel.

He also produced Weird Al's first few albums and performed the guitar solo on "Eat it."

Al just posted about it:

Rock and roll hoochie koo guy died.
I didn’t know it was him that sang ‘Hang On Sloopy.’ He was 77 and had had open heart surgery recently, but was ‘doing great’ when he had a cardiac arrest Mon. night. According to the TMZ article he also had a ‘caretaker’ so idk how they define ‘doing great’ though. Anyway RIP.

We've only just begun was used brilliantly in my favorite PG-13 horror movie, 1408. So that's where I know it from. Sad I had to learn it's origins from his passing.
