Note to business owners: Don't do this.
This sounds like something Douglass Reynholm from IT Crowd would do.

First sentence of the third paragraph from said article:

But here's another legitimate source to confirm the head injuries:

NY Daily News

It's such an outrageously traumatic Final Destination way to die. Not a big fan of bicyclists in the road, but yeah, the Mercedes driver sounded like he had absolutely no clue.

The helmet info I got came from other personal blogs so it is unconfirmed from a main news source but I would have to think that only a motorcycle helmet could have effectively prevented the head from being completely crushed. I hope the small amount of time he had to make his peace was all he needed. RIP.

He had a lot of talent in my view. Sounds like he was in the middle of mixing his new album, hope they can release some of it.
I just found out this guy's girlfriend was pregnant with their first child. Holey double frosted shit!
When the universe has it in for you. Unbelievable.

Mikayla Raines, the woman who ran the Animal Rescue Saveafox just killed herself.

You know, having been vaguely aware of her channel for a while I was curious to see if there was credence to any of the claims against her. So naturally I searched the org up on here and found a few interesting posts. In these two threads specifically, nothing else has really been dug up since these posts from 2022 and I'm not gonna sit here and gravedance but it's still good to point out. Methinks that maybe some of these accusations actually held some water and should be looked at again.

Apologies if I fucked the formatting up here, I normally don't link other farms posts in my own.

So, there is a whole hate subreddit devoted to the SaveAFox lady. She died, and they quickly went private.

Their accusation is she wasn’t really rescuing foxes from fur farms, just making YouTube money and encouraging people to buy exotic pets. She had a viral fox named Finnegan, which they saw as proof she was in it for the clout. These weren’t your usual incel reply guys; they actually thought they were helping the animals. Animal rescue folks tend to be hardcore: they’re not just anti-zoo, they’re anti-pet.

Was shocked to find out about this after having dinner, the video was rough to get through. Never thought she'd pass before Finnegan.

I'd also never heard about the controversy before and frankly, even if it is true, Mikayla's death is still tragic considering she left her three-year-old daughter behind. All the foxes and other animals they saved are no doubt going to wonder where she is too. (:_(

Came here after seeing the news about SaveAFox to see if anyone was talking about it. I used to enjoy their videos in the past but got bored after they started expanding and it felt a bit more weighted towards personal vlog-y over time, too many foxes to learn about more individually etc.

News to me that she supposedly had BPD and an onlyfans account. Looking it up, she seemed to be responding to relatively minor Reddit comments in the past so I can imagine a full blown snark page would be very tough for her to take. I’m interested to see here which, if any, claims might have held water. Seems like there might have been a bobcat bite that could be legit that she was denying and said was fake?

BPD and being a social media influencer seems like a recipe for disaster. I couldn’t get through watching the video on her channel as her husband’s grief was just so raw. My heart breaks for him and his daughter. I know he’ll probably want to continue her work, but part of me wonders if it wouldn’t be best to get away from it all and live a quiet, private life for his daughters sake.

Disheartening. I really loved their videos. And now her daughter is without a mother. (:_(
Saying mental illness is incredibly painful would be an understatement, but abandoning your 3 year old daughter at such a young age is unforgivable.

I have many gripes with SAF (Buying directly from furfarms and fuelling money into it, claiming to be anti-fur while having taxidermied foxes, her record of posting weird nsfw photos on both YT and OF, everything with tripod fox apollo or valentine) but would never wish for her to commit suicide. Having watched a fair amount of her videos it seems like she very much struggled with BPD and the logistics of the organization. It's heartbreaking to think about how she's left behind her family. I feel awful for Ethan, who has to handle this, take care of their daughter himself, and lead the org itself. That's such a stressful situation to be in. I wouldn't be surprised if the foxes end up rehomed to other sanctuaries and they go quiet.

Reading through the information compiled in the other thread / post, part of me wonders if it’ll come out that the IRS or Dept of Wildlife or similar were sniffing around how SaveAFox was being run. I’m sure BPD + online harassment did drive her to this unfortunate end, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if the narrative was helpful in protecting her ‘legacy’ and providing cover for potentially valid criticisms too.

It seems like they were technically set up - whether current or past? - as a fur firm rather than a rescue? And used it as a loophole for being able to buy foxes from fur farms. The county had wanted to shut them down multiple times due to the way they were run in the past it seems.

Interesting point I saw as well that later on they often seemed to deliberately purchase baby foxes in rare/attractive colours. Friendlier and prettier on camera? Aside from poor conditions, I don’t really remember seeing many foxes with long term conditions (couple of tripods later on?) like you’d expect in rescues. It’s crazy to me that she bought some of these kits before they were born; call me ignorant but at what point were they not kind of directly funding the fur farm breeding trade rather than fighting it? I thought they were surrendered, but she’d pay up to $500 for a rare coated fox! Even ‘basic’ ones were $250-300 each. I guess the argument was better to be bought by them and looked after then bought by someone else and become a coat.
