He will always be controversial but in the twilight of his years Shooter was an encouraging voice for new people entering comics.
That might be true but unless you actually worked and know how comics were created during the 80's and 90's you could understand some of his methods and why it happened.

He was good to me when I met him. Chain smoker. And he had to at times baby sit illustrators because they fucking could not keep a deadline.

Damn he's fucking better than the shitheads who are in control of the MoDeRn Comic Book industry.

Rest in peace my man.

Even after interacting with some "creatives" over the years in limited capacities, my inclination is to side with creators, but honestly many creators could use a Jim Shooter to keep their asses in line. Part of the problem. and part of what influenced his perception in some quarters where he was seen as a "hardass", was how huge the egos of some of the comics creators had swelled, where even reasonable demands were met with hostility.

Jim Shooter did nothing wrong with how he treated his creators.
Keep to the fucking deadline and don't be late.
Based as fuck.
Yes. Illustrators of today do not understand how hard it was back then and how important it was to keep a dead line.

This problem was one of the reasons Ghost Artists were used at times to finish a job. This happen because you started to see "Fat Head Syndrome" on how important they are.

I was there when the shit went down in the 90's. I'm probably one of the few that give him praise because he was a Hard Ass.

Because He had too (Jim Shooter) to keep people in line to make sure that they are on schedule.

In my book, He's definitely Based.

Hall of Fame hockey player Alex Delvecchio has died at the age of 93. He spent his entire 24 year NHL playing career as a member of the Detroit Red Wings before going on to coach them for 4 years.
Interesting fact from Delvecchio's Wikipedia page:

He is one of three NHL players to spend their entire career with one franchise and play at least 1,500 games with that team (the other two, Steve Yzerman and Nicklas Lidström, also played for the Red Wings
I grew in and around Detroit, and know how loyal and vibrant the Wings fan base is, so it's no wonder that the team was able to keep three of the greatest ever to play on the payroll for their entire career.

I also bartended in the 'burbs for a bit and can say that Nick Lidström is a beautiful human being in person.

This one's fairly delayed, but the tweet explains why. RIP TJ Roberts.
Damn, that's a sad one. He was only 53. Information is sparse, but it seems to have been due to surgical complications during resection of an aggressive brain cancer.

Masked Rider was cheesy as hell, but I loved it as a kid. Great theme song.
