This was too sudden... fuck.

She was a legend and one of the only leafs I genuinely respected along with Norm and a select few others.
Thanks for contributing to my childhood and also being absolutely hilarious in Schitt's Creek.

RIP Catherine, now you're reunited with John Heard (Kevin's dad) up there. Hope you enjoy it.

My late father's cat was put down this week. I was taking care of her while my mother has been travelling and I decided to bring her to the vet to have her checked out. She was an old cat and had a number of health problems.

I made the decision to let her sleep rather than face an ever decreasing quality of life and increasing pain.

I used to sing to her. Now all I see is the empty space in the living room where her little bed was. I won't lie -- I cried when it ended.
My little kitty is curled up in my lap as I read this. :(

I hate that they Mix in Shitt's Creek with the actual good shows as if it was something. She was a standout among standouts on SCTV and was Mrs. Deetz in Beetlejuice before she was Kevin's mom.

Also, I wonder what "after a brief illness" is. Vax death? Fent? She's younger and AFAIK never been a boozer or fatty so something is up, she shouldn't be dying at 71 from pneumonia.

That was not on my bingo card. I’m shocked. Catherine was such a lovely lady.
Macaulay wrote the saddest insta post about his mom.
Mama, I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you but I had so much more to say.
I love you.

I’ll see you later

70s are the age where it can happen, though. We have less functional reserve by then; the mileage builds up, and someone might not even know their system is compensating until it gets thrown off.

Most 70-year-old grandmas bounce back from pneumonia with fluids and antibiotics, most 70-year-old grandpas can rehab from a hip... but that's a smaller "most" than at 50.

How in the fuck do you write a story about her passing and leave SCTV for an aside near the end of the story? There's an entire generation of people who have fond memories of her on that show for several seasons.
Says a lot how far away the 70's and 80's are becoming in our lives. I had on CBC's news channel and even they didn't mention SCTV at all and just played a clip of Home Alone where she remembers Kevin on the plane.
