Anita brought up Peach being a damsel in distress a bunch of times but I don't think Bob ever commented on it. As for Marvel, it's weird. He does sometimes bring up "problematic" elements of the films and considers the diversity kids in the comics to be an inevitable breakout hit heading to Marvel Studios instead of Marvel Entertainment's collection of mostly failures that steal attention away from any pre-existing non-white male characters or possible new creations, cancer for sales, and a major sign of uncreativity if your big ideas are recoloring Iron Man (while shitting on the original).

Despite that, he's 10,000% content with wanking off whatever Marvel Studios creates as the greatest piece of art since the last thing they made. That's why you see a weird disconnect where he'd get a boner over Thor Ragnarok and then later get pissy at anyone complaining that they spent money on a Mighty Thor comic that does not contain Thor Odinson. You know, even though he has no interest in the medium so the logic doesn't really add up.

I'm not sure how to describe that attitude in less words.

What the fuck else do you want? The film looks like a love letter to all nerd fandom. And it's being helm by one of the greatest directors of this decade. Oh right. You hate nerds despite being one, and no marvel character is present in it. So of course you would go to a contrarian mindset.

I loved the book when I read it in high school and the fact that Spielberg directed it even when he is 72 years old is fucking awesome in my opinion. So I don't know what Bob's talking about with this shit. That alone and hopefully a 20th anniversary of Saving Private Ryan back in theaters has made my 2018 great because of him.

I respectfully disagree. (well, maybe not that it's weird, you humans are all weird) It's good for people to be informed before making purchases. Also black smithing is cool. (and I'm not just saying that because my grandfather was a blacksmith #robotjokes)

I think Bob's just jealous because when you think about it - do we really NEED a movie critic? Most people will just ask a friend for their opinion of a movie. But reviews of practical products? Actual craftsmanship? THAT there will always be a need for and really is useful.
