*Sigh*. Who would have thought back in 2011, that some of my favorite web reviewers would someday turn into screeching, Invasion of the Bodysnatcher aliens blathering incoherently about Drumpf and White Privilege? I even liked Lindsey Ellis at one time -in her first TGWTG review, she pulled apart the absurdities of Disney's Pocahontas and even mentioned its excessive pandering to political correctness. MovieBob was a liberal sperg, but one with an enthusiasm for cult media and a folksy style. Spoony, hell, he actually made decent content and introduced me to FMV games, a medium with which I was wholly unfamiliar.
And then sometime before Gamergate, it all fell apart. Maybe it was Obama's second election that gave the PC Police a sense of inevitable victory, - a sense that they could now pull off the masks and be the tone-policing Kommiseriat they had always wanted to be all along. Maybe Gamergate was the catalyst, who knows? All I know is that I can't really trust my own memories anymore. Who WERE these people whose stuff I enjoyed? The election of Trump has sorted the sheep from the goats - the people who put ideology and ego before friends and family and those who don't think someone to the right of Stalin should be locked up in a camp.
This is what disturbs me the most about Bob's behavior. His inability to see that he is the monster that he wishes to destroy. And I also wonder if I have destructive traits that I'm blind to. I'm certainly uncomfortable with the level of rage that Bob's behavior inspires in me. I hope I can learn something from this...
