Clickbait doesn’t work when you heavily moderate your comments and forums or get rid of them altogether.

Part of what Blobbo does is create controversy to increase his influence and visibility on twitter. He does it by making stupid claims and arguing with people smarter than him so his tweets get a lot of views and comments.
I think that approach is what's making the left hate Bob so much. They are trying to because a strong political side again yet that have Bob making a embarrassment out of them.

While it could potentially be a funny Comedy Central skit, it would completely destroy any sense of verisimilitude and gravitas that the franchise has if it were turned into a feature film. And when people criticize some of the MCU films for out of place humor that drains the tension and emotional impact of the story, he resorts to "well, it's all ridiculous bullshit made for children, they CAN'T be taken seriously." I think it's because, like you said, he's unable to understand why these stories resonate with people, so he sees the tropes they employ as something to be mocked within them.

I bolded "verisimilitude" because that was Richard Donner's mantra on Superman and why the tagline of the film is, "You will believe a man can fly." There were parts of the film that were ridiculous, like the infamous dues ex machine where Superman reverses the Earth's rotation to turn back time. However, the emotion of that scene resonated with me. Superman was so busy with saving California from sliding into the sea that he couldn't get to Lois in time. It echoed the scene where Pa Kent died and a younger Clark Kent was helpless to prevent it, but a grown Superman went "fuck it" and defied Jor-El's edict to not interfere in human history to save the woman he loved. Imagine how Bob would ruin that scene.

"It's a KRYPTON thing!"

Where did he say this?

He said that earlier this year. Essentially he wants Star Wars to start focusing less on actual war and more on the different species of the galaxy and how everything interacts with each other.

In other words, Star Trek but with a Star Wars paint job.

As someone who likes to write fiction (publishing is another matter altogether), Bob's deconstruction of culture is frustrating because the man certainly can identify tropes the themes in storytelling, but has absolutely no clue as to how they work. He cannot, for the worthless life of his, actually put the damn thing back together. One reason for this is because Bob's narcissism and simplistic black-and-white worldview cripple his own understanding of the human psyche. As we have witnessed with The Last Jedi, he obsesses over "subversion of expectations" and believes that makes it a smart film. Fans are half-wits if they hate it as far as he's concerned.

The reason why the original trilogy as well as the Indiana Jones trilogy worked was because George Lucas wanted to recreate the excitement he felt when watching the old film serials of his youth. Thus he read Joseph Campbell's The Hero With a Thousand Faces and took inspiration from those serials and other films to (re)construct a film that many would agree is one of, if not THE defining film of the 20th century. Rian Johnson is postmodernist that believes that subverting the audience's expectations is somehow intelligent, which Bob agrees with because it fits with is ideology that the past must be torn down to make way for the Superior Future™.

No. There is a reason why works like the Iliad, Beowulf, and the works of Shakespeare are required reading in every university English program (and frankly, I would be surprised if Bob read any of them.) It's because they fulfilled a basic human need to look beyond this materialistic existence. Deconstruction and subversion are okay if the writer is skilled enough to put it back together. Alan Moore deconstructed and subverted the superhero genre with Miracleman and Watchmen, but was also able to reconstruct it with "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow," Supreme, and Tom Strong. Bob can't because he is too self-obsessed and motivated by instant gratification to look beyond the superficial.
In other words, "any idiot can kick a box hard enough to collapse" is why most deconstructions fall on their face. Ironically this means Bob has a lot in common with the 90s creators he was mocking pages ago.

The problem is deconstruction isn't just about tearing something down; it's about putting it together in new and interesting shapes, which requires a level of imagination Bob conspicuously lacks.

See, this is what I can't figure out. Bob infuriates the right with his sheer thuggishness; irritate the left with how stupid and easy a target he is; and from all indications is not terribly adept at forging good relationships with people in meatspace. Is it possible he's personable when not on Twitter, to the point the Escapist people actually consider him a friend? I've often wondered if his Twitter persona is vastly different from the real world version of him. Maybe that's the case. Or is it just that 100k subscribers? I would think with Yahtzee still on board they wouldn't be quite that desperate.

Yeah, but his 100K subs don't really hold water when you realize most of his vids fail to breach 70K views. Hell, it's more notable when one of them does than when it doesn't. Only 11 of his 31 vids in the last six months do, and of these, only 3 are over 100,000 views. To compare, Scottish shitposter Count Dankula has only four uploads in the last six months (out of 34) that got less than 100K, and one was released about 14 hours ago, and most of his videos have 200-500K views. To further blast this out of the water, every single video Yahtzee has ever uploaded to The Escapist has over 200K views - minimum - with most having half a million or more.

Bob's channel has been in a holding pattern for a while, but while he's at least modestly succesful, he's not really got much draw. He's always been the least successful video contributor on The Escapist, and his numbers have been down for quite a while.

Hiring him makes no sense, unless the sole reason for doing so was to show the change of the guard at that site since Bob got his stupid ass fired the last time.

Either Bob is scared of HBO, or the fact that Game of Thrones is based off of a book. According to Nash and Bob, only people on the alt-right read.
And the best part is, the books are actually much better at "deconstruction" than the show is.

Although I take the position that it's not so much deconstruction as The War of the Roses with some names and places altered and dragons shoehorned in.

to be fair, reality can be stranger than fiction. Perhaps bob could write a book drawing entirely from his life or some shit to see if people would buy it

If Bob read more books in place of playing video games or watching superhero movies, we wouldn't be having a conversation on him right now.
