So apparently Russ Pitts said something to Zoe Quinn on Twitter that got her panties in a twist (what panties, ha-ha), and this has resulted in the usual throngs of thirsty white knighting. Bob has, er, weighed in, and in keeping with his cowardice when dealing with the left side of the aisle it's all very indirect, passive-aggressive, and elliptical.

That's the thing. Bob is a social media addict and he doesn't need to like his addiction, he is simply dependent on it.

The context is that Russ Pitts, the EIC who rehired Bob, wrote an article that seemed very aimless but had to do with games journalism and basically trying to restart the whole ethics in journalism conversation without GG's baggage. Zoe Quinn threw a tantrum online because of course she'd hop on any chance to make herself relevant again through GG and Pitts responded in a now deleted Tweet with "I'm sorry not everything is about you."

Add in the article already being very vague about journo stuff (several of the woke journos criticized the article for avoiding a lot of hard examples of bad journalism outside of the Dead Cells plagiarism scandal last year) and Pitts just cut his wrist and went swimming with sharks. He's been at the center of several huge ratio gap tweets on Twitter and his attempts to go "No wait I really hate GG I swear!" have been brushed off. Russ basically just destroyed the Escapist revival with his own two hands.

Man, you can almost feel Chipman holding back on tearing into Russ because he knows Russ is probably pissed enough that he'd give Bob the boot over stabbing him in the back in public. I would adore anyone who can get fly on the wall details on what happens behind the scenes for the Escapist in the coming weeks, since between the inevitable articles that will come out tomorrow and that lawsuit against Pitts for describing all of the site's ex-writers as alt-right, he's gonna feel hot in the oven for the next while.

I got the sense Bob was more of a mind to defend Russ (because we know he has zero problem defending much worse shitheads than Russ Pitts if they have the potential to advance his career), but knows he can't do so directly without getting brigaded by Zoe's minions.

Ok, someone please explain to me why so many liberals consider MAGA hats to be white supremacy. I’m not even a trump supporter(I try to avoid most politics) and I see them as just support of the president and his ideas. Trump has done shitty things in his long business history, but he never seemed racist to me, and building a wall to keep illegals out is not a race thing

As far as I can see, the general thread of logic is that the hat represents the evil divide Trump implemented by existing and white supremacists wear it. Therefore it is a white supremacy symbol, same as suits, sneakers, drinking water and breathing air, I guess. The fact that Trump is doing nowhere near enough to be for white supremacy kind of is ignored.
You’re dealing with people who legitimately bought the ‘the OK hand sign means White Power!’ hoax /pol/ started. Don’t expect them to be titans of logic.

In the BBC radio version niggerman's name was changed to VooDoo. I'm guessing they'd have to change it again if it was rebroadcast.

There was an attempt to make the Cthulhu mythos progressive by getting a bunch a black and queer writers to add to the canon, but I don't recall it ever going anywhere and since the books are public domain anyone can claim to be writing canon sequels. Doesn't make them canon.

He did that when he hired Bob and went back on his promise of no politics, just games.

I almost feel bad for Russ. He seems like he knows that game journalism is shit and that only way to improve it is by removing all the political bullshit and biased non-gamer writers, but he lacks any kind of spine. When he said that the new Escapist was going to all about the games, the usual suspects attacked him and he caved immediately. Maybe if he had the courage to tell these harpies to fuck off that maybe we could have had a site that was like Giant Bomb during it's prime. As it is now it's basically the Zero Punctuation channel and some hanger-ons who'll soon need to learn to code.

Well it seemed to rattle the right cages as it exposed the hacks to folks like us to write threads, so something nice happened. It also exposed some actual abusers, pedos, and other hypocrites so it brought much needed sunlight to them, the best disinfectant.
