King Arthur seems to be his go to for Smart pants pop culture analysis comparison.
I remember Robert saying that Star Wars was also a King Arthur-esque story, because he is too much of a big brain to say "Flash Gordon with Kurosawa" like everybody else.
But the reason on why people say that Star wars is just "Flash Gordon with Kurosawa" is because George Lucas himself said that, more so, Lucas wasn't particuarly well read, he drew his inspirations on what was very popular at the time, and while Kurosawa movies today have the honorifics of high art, back in the 70's, his Samurai Movies were just a notch above the grindhouse schlock. And so Robert drawns comparison between Arthur and Star wars because "Sword and sorcery".
I never read or seen any of the Harry Potter movies, but I know the hero started out as a mistreated orphan in a household of commoners. But I did read "Le Morte d'Arthur" the most concise adaptation of the folk stories of king Arthur and in the books Arthur was never a servant, Arthur was raised like a son of a lord, when his father, the King Uther, lost his throne. So the comparison doesn't really match....
Ah wait, wait, I remember when Arthur was a servant:
There we go! Disney shit Robert. Big Brains galaxy take here, Harry Potter continues the proud tradition of British legends, by taking the disney version.
The idiot was so eager to sound smart and put together Harry Potter and king Arthur that he never bothered to even look if these two stories had anything in common besides superficial traits, like wizards. Good shit Robert.
