I remember about a year ago Bob kept throwing around the idea of doing an episode of Game Overthinker about the e-sports scene, and how he thought that it was an even worse atmosphere than the FPS/AAA guys, but I think he's since dropped the idea because no big gaming youtuber (Total Biscuit, Boogie 2988, Markiplier, etc.) would EVER want to associate with him.

My main beef is how much of a knot peoples panties get into. It's... Uh.... Similar to this response I saw to a girl on Tumblr screeching about how Chinese culture is being destroyed by white people putting hot dogs in it or some shit. "Breaking news - Chinese culture that has lasted for millennia suddenly collapsed today when a white girl in Ohio chopped up some hot dogs and put them in her rice." It's a fucking video series/indie game. The industry will be fine. Oh, what's that? Indie Publications are just patting themselves on the back? Oh no. Whatever shall we do. It's sort of like how Death Metal died because Hipsters, amirite? I recall some GG comment "We are fighting against a future where an unsuspecting kid gets Gone Home because 10/10." I can't speak for everyone, but ratings never played a role in my purchases. I would see something that made me think the game looked cool, and I'd get it. I didn't trawl ratings sites and go "10/10! 10/10! Must buy!" People aren't mindless drones. Anywho, just wanted to clear up my reasoning in objecting to the shitstorm around them.

A lot of people on the Escapist forums have been calling it for a while and the magazine seems to be making cutbacks in a lot of places. MovieBob is just a victim of being a controversial figure when the belt needed to be tightened. Whether the majority liked him or not, he made a lot of content for the site and generated a lot of clicks. His absence will be felt.
Yahtzee will keep them afloat for a little while but if he decides to go off on his on, The Escapist is sunk. Unless they can bring in some new talent to keep their membership up and attract more subscribers, they're going to suffer in the future.
Greg Tito being involved in the GameJournoPros list probably hit them in the gut too in terms of credibility in the eyes of their membership. The internet never forgets.

So many questions - Why is this guy giving me life style advices..... while pointing a wiimote at me and going outside with his bowser t-shirt? Why is this guy so full of himself? Why did I watch a video where I saw an overweight man (far from having a normal BMI) who swears a lot, tells me to eat better, exercise more, and clean up my language? I mean if you are going to "speak to the masses" then you need to have shit in order. You don't listen to a broke persons advice about money. You don't listen to a fat person about how to get in shape. News flash, we all know excersice and diet are important. So just repeating that doesn't give you a gold star or a pass. HOW you force yourself to go to the gym is the key. HOW you discipline yourself to eat properly is the key. How do you put yourself in a position to do those things. Again, he edited his video, the original one posted at screwattack/his blog page/gametrailers yonks ago didn't have the part where he addresses his weight problem but that doesn't change a thing about the overall criticism towards his attitude. Unfortunately, I can't find the original release of the video.

His book is a borefest; the first portion: "semi-autobiography mixed with Nintendo magic realism" will cause permanent brain damage, but is still somewhat morbidly fascinating if you're interested in lolcows.
