I'm serious when I ask this but is Bob the only person out of the 7.6 billion currently alive that loves the idea of a single corporation owning the planet? Exclude anyone who is a high level employee of a mega-corp or people paid by them. It's a central thing in every other dystopian story not centered around Earth becoming a wasteland.
He did say that The Hunger Games doesn't work because he instinctively roots for the elites to win, so...
Come to think of it, Logan was taking swipes at his Superior Future (i.e., highly mechanized, corporatized, and completely at odds with the needs of everyday people), so maybe that's the real reason his praise felt so begrudging.
Blade Runner 2049, where one corporation controls the world's food supply and makes life-like robots, portrays this as a bad thing. Again, tepid praise from our overweight overlord.

(They also share a screenwriter in Michael Green. Talk about indirect trolling.)

Well considering Bob's Randian worldview minus the fear of centralized government, that isn't surprising in the least. It honestly feels like Bob would love a corporate fascist society where they are allowed to act with impunity to those who oppose them as long as they give the facade of goodwill, like Disney.

Oh my god.

You think Bob would do one of those pitches for the Hunger Games, but the people that live in Panem are the superior good guys and the district dwellers are the inferior past holding them back?
As mentioned a few times in this thread, he's talked about it before.

You know how pundits rail on working class conservatives, saying that they support greedy , pro-corporation Republican policies because "they all believe they're temporarily embarrassed millionaires?" Well, Bob supports greedy, Fascist, pro-Corporation policies because he believes that he's actually a temporarily displaced member of the ruling elite who somehow found himself living among the inferior peasants. Some day, he'll hear a knock on his door and a mysterious visitor will shove a golden ticket into his hand, a ticket to the alter dimension where all of New York is covered in posh Manhattan apartments, and where Bob will finally be welcomed to live among his own, chowing down on Moon Wheat and sneering at the fundamentalist Christian garbage people wallowing in the sewers below.

Bob is already complaining that Alita won't have Japanese actors...because the manga was full of japanese people, right?
Hold the fuck up. Is he really? This bloated sack of shit is complaining about the lack japanese actors in Battle Angel when HE HIMSELF pitched an American remake of Akira titled "Michael". I think I bluescreened for a minute trying to process that.

Is it possible that he only approves of anime adaptations in hope that means "all Asian casts" even if the story has nothing to do with Japan or Asia in general? I know jack about Battle Angel but I'm not talking about it in particular. It's like how some people got their panties in a twist about Dragon Ball Evolution not being full of Japanese people despite the characters being from all over their world and the story being inspired by China & America.

People like him just look at the origin of the material, and say that all actors must be from the country of the material's origin, unless it is from the US.

I can't wait for this to be a waste of everyone's time and money either.

Fuck those people, Ex Machina was great.

I shouldn’t be surprised, but to see Bob lionize corporations like that, it’s hard for me to actually wrap my head around how anyone could think like this. Are we sure Bob wasn’t the result of some corporation’s experiments to create the perfect consumerist?

I used to think that category belonged to Chris, the way he’d sometimes rattle off things like prices of food stuffs and where to get them, but it seems more like something you could attribute to echolalia stemming from autism and was mostly harmless.

Bob here is a corporation’s wet dream, and an extreme example of consumerism. Any academic worth their salt could use this guy as a case study!

The blob doth protests too much, methinks. Has anyone besides bob talked about Battle Angel besides "uuuugh those eyes look weird"?

Alita is supposed to be a robot anyway. Having her played by anyone, even if she's Asian is still skin-washing. Hollywood has a serious lack of robot and program-based actors.

I disagree, there are plenty of robots in Hollywood but that's another discussion.

Maybe, just maybe there are more than two distinct groups of people. And just what the unholy crimson hell is TRUE liberation? The freedom to be a fatass shut-in scarfing Big Macs, reeing on Twitter, and watching comic book movies? Wow, we're so oppressed to not live this utopian dream and those obsolete rust belters are preventing us from doing this.

He wouldn't actually be free in his superior future. He'd think he's free but he'd actually be giving into corporations who claim to have his, and the people's interests at heart. Selling superficial diversity, artificial rights in the form of being able to referred to by your pronouns of choice, and deflecting accountability from the very people who screw you over. To them, we would be little more than seals barking for the keeper to toss us a fish.
