Sorry, this post is a bit late but I’ve always wondered, why are modern writers so against new ideas and independent thoughts?
With a new idea, you have to develop a world the characters can live in, create rules for that property, and build on that initial idea until you have something that people would be able to enjoy. And if you do all that hard work and it doesn't pay off, you're an even bigger failure than you thought you were.

With an established property, you not only have an inbuilt audience, but you don't have to put in as much work. It's all done for you. And the fans will be happy that you're continuing the story. The ones who aren't can be dismissed as whiny fanboys.

Maybe so, but I rather make my own story than copy off of somebody else. You know, make something that’s mine.

Reboots are the work of talentless hacks.

Unfortunately, talentless hacks are pretty much the only ones that get work in the creative industries these days. It might have been in this thread or somewhere else on the farms, but I remember discussions about how the writers' strike of 2007 had lasting effects on the business that are still felt today. One of the biggest unintended consequences was the decision to get rid of all the old school writers in favor of fresh-out-of-college hacks with no talent, willing to work for peanuts just to say they were part of the creative process of X franchise. It was cheaper than hiring people who actually knew what they were doing, and consoomers were too braindead to know the difference, only caring that their favorite series was getting new content.

Drinker talks about the consoomer mindset briefly towards the end of his latest video about why setups and payoffs are so important in creating a good story (which might be why this is on my mind today):

And again, why wouldn't Hollywood do this? Consoomers have proven time and again that they'll happily take any slop that's put in front of them as long as it's gussied up with brand names they recognize or it's chock full of memberberries. There's a huge in-built audience that's constantly wanting new content of things they know, and even if they only fall for it once before learning not to be tricked by modern Hollywood again, that's still a major payday. Look at how TFA made over $2 billion off of Star Wars fans desperate for another movie; even though they didn't make as much as fans started to learn their lesson, TLJ and TROS still pulled over a billion apiece from millions of morons.

There's also the issue of actually getting your original work published, particularly if you're a first-time writer. It's no secret that many of the major genre fiction publishing houses have drunk the woke Koolaid (Tor especially; read up on the Sad Puppies debacle if you want to learn more about that), and if they don't like your politics, you'll find it borderline impossible to get your foot in the door. It's not really a surprise why people would choose to attach themselves to an existing setting; the hard part of creating the world is already done for you, and the megacorp in charge is already paying you (although you don't own anything you write so have fun never getting royalties).

This is a bit long-winded, and I don't mean to sound discouraging if you actually do have the intention of making your own story. Nobody can or should stop you from creating what you want to create. Just know that making any money off of it is going to be an uphill battle.

Then again, you could always be like Moviebob and be a pathetic leech on the megacorps. It's an option.

Honestly, the only writing Bob should do is either a suicide note or a movie script about a fat angry incel who ends up reading Confederacy of Dunces but thinks it's about his political opponents.
No he should make a sequel to Brick by Brick because that was the funniest thing he's ever done

Another Bobby blooper due to his inability to read beyond the retweet.

The irony circle would be complete if the murderer turned out to be someone walked in the country over Angela Merkel's welcome mat. But the German police didn't diverge any more info than "a 49-year-old German citizen".

Suddenly Bobby pretends to care about the health of the wait staff at the Met Gala, just to own Glenn Greenwald.

If the caterer were really concerned about the health of their staff, they should have ordered the guests to be masked too. No masks, no service.

Bobby thinks only the industrial sector are climate-killers (BTW don't ask him where his Mario figurines came from), and he brings up the harebrained idea of iron-seeding the ocean again.

I still want to know what these people are "guilty" of.

George Orwell is problematic; the party who told you to reject the evidence in front of your eyes is just protecting you from deceptive photoshopping.

Indeed there is not one name in that Build A Better Gamer that is generally regarded as philosophers (no, Ayn Rand doesn't count).

That thread attracted the expected stampede of low-effort name-droppers, but I love this tweet:

Almost brought tears to my eyes, and I'm being sincere.

There is hardly anything more annoying on Twitter than the retarded pedantry by a jackass (Khrachvik's thread about misused Marxist terms)

That is an infuriatingly and bewilderingly goal post move. "You just want the working class to get sick and die stupid nazi. Don't you know they're already unwashed and NEED to be masked?"

NONE of these shitbirds will address the hypocrisy here of the rich and powerful freely going about their business and flaunting it while their beloved working class peons are wearing their magically protective collars like the good dogs they are.

"Don't you know? They're around low class people ALL THE TIME! They are not like the superior elite who are around other superior people that have superior genes. You can inject them with AIDS and they'll fart out febreeze they're so elite. These filthy commoners don't even use a bidet! The savages wipe away their excrement using tissue bunched up in their OWN HANDS! That's why movie stars and rich people do not need to follow the rules put upon the peasants at any event or simple filming job. They are better and cleaner than the workers. You MAGAchuds, on the other hand, are just fine with wiping out the people who make such lavish events possible. Who's the real bigot now hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? Who's against the working class now hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?"

It's this dissonance that makes me worried about the future. Normal people see what's happening, not just at the MET but with their own politicians, and do not like having their noses rubbed in it. Que this vocal part of population that will do and say whatever they can because they "trust the science TM" and they will continue to brow beat and demean anyone who doesn't fall into line. I really do think this is gonna come to a head and I don't know if many to any of us are really prepared for that. I guess our best bet is to go out, buy a pig mask, and hope grandpa dies and leaves you his .357 revolver.

Behold obsoletes! Your new god!

If society were perfectly egalitarian, the caterer of the Met Gala would have been able to firmly demand a mask mandate from the guests: No Mask, No Service. But they don't have such bargaining power; they could not afford to lose a big business. The rich is able to use their financial power to subjugate the poor, and society is not egalitarian. Taxing the rich will not solve this problem.

It is this simple really. Anyone who pretend otherwise is a bootlicking hypocrite.

It just bugs me the way Bob is all "there's coherent logic here" when it comes to his beloved stars but not to anything else even using the exact same logic.

I know, I know. Tactics, targets, etc. Just bugs me that he could see Hollywood caterers as having reasons for not getting the vaccine but farmers somehow don't have any reasons for not getting the vaccine.

And Bob looked from human to pig, from pig to human, finding himself unable to tell the difference between them, yet desperately wishing he was among them.

I think his "logic" is that he shouldn't be inconvenienced. In a typical demonstration of Most Wise Bob's largesse for Thinkers, he then extends this to his perceived peer group. I guess his invite got lost in the mail.
I know, I know. Tactics, targets, etc. Just bugs me that he could see Hollywood caterers as having reasons for not getting the vaccine but farmers somehow don't have any reasons for not getting the vaccine.
Yeah, but caterers make food, what do farmers do?

There's not even coherent logic here as the CDC says even if you're vaccinated you still need to wear a mask and that's before you have to just assume the whole wait staff is unvaccinated.

I hate the way they act like you have to give media the benefit of the doubt.

Yikes! That's not creativity, that's individuality and possessiveness, which are both symptoms of white supremacy!
Real creativeness is going through an established work and rehashing to fit the correct opinions of today's cultural zeitgeist, mkay sweatie? Real ground-breaking works involve LGBTQ+ ships and 1-dimensional baddies, not intriguing narratives, character challenges and underlying questions!

*this is sarcasm, if you can't tell*

This is not the first time the Bobenfurhrer has made his disdain for Orwell's very general straight-forward "hey, authoritarianism is bad" message known.

It is amazing and borderline nonsensical, even for an autistic person like TeamImpossible, due to the formatting.

There are 18 replies to this. One is Bob's

The other 17, all of them, are TeamImpossible's.
I have no idea what order these are supposed to be in. You'll see the reason for this inanity in the next spoiler.

Even true and honest fan maybe Lass_Library, confederatiode2, has had enough of this.
The autist couldn't be bothered to figure out how to click the plus button or just reply in thread to his own tweets. This "change" btw is well over a year old at this point.

Nice name change for confederatiode2, tranny sex pest.
I don't know the likely hood of this but I'm looking forward to an arc where Bob finally blocks TeamImpossible and he flies into a tard rage and joins forces with @John Spetsnaz to make the ultimate League of Doom! That'll go into my top 10 anime team ups.

Speaking of which, our local A-Log, who said he'd never come back to this site after he was thread banned for being an autistic A-Log last year, is back.
1632324553590.png

He deleted the sperg out where he said he'd never come back and that means it never happened right? For anyone who doesn't know about him I would warn against interacting with John. It is not hyperbole to say that he's been after Bob for years, even claiming to have contacted The Escapists parent company and humble bragging that he might have had a hand in getting Bob fired the second time. All of this is because he claims that Bob Chipman, movie reviewer and diabetic from Bahwstain, wants him personally dead. He has even gone to threaten to kill himself, to other leftist who are not affiliated with Bob, because of Bob. If you think you have enough moxie that you can fix him and his schizophrenia you are welcome to try.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

And I do understand what you’re saying but I don’t plan to become part of the megacorps. I just want produce my own stories.

I just want to entertain people.

So, you want to destroy industry. And you want to replace it with... robots? Which produce carbon dioxide, and are worse industrial workers than humans?

The Green New Deal makes more sense than this, and it's basically the political version of a little kid's letter to Santa.
I think I can see why Bob hates Orwell:
George Orwell said:
...as used, the word ‘Fascism’ is almost entirely meaningless. In conversation, of course, it is used even more wildly than in print. I have heard it applied to farmers, shopkeepers, Social Credit, corporal punishment, fox-hunting, bull-fighting, the 1922 Committee, the 1941 Committee, Kipling, Gandhi, Chiang Kai-Shek, homosexuality, Priestley's broadcasts, Youth Hostels, astrology, women, dogs and I do not know what else.

Orwell's point was that people throw the word "fascist" at anything they disagree with. You can verify whether this happens today by looking at Moviebob's tweets.
