Defending space exploration against charges that it wastes money better spent on social programs is a perfectly defensible position, albeit one generally more on the right (or at least it was during NASA's heyday; hippies and no-nuke types hated the space program with a passion). Where it gets deeply weird is where Bob starts bitching about not feeling the need to show the world any kindness, since it never showed any to him. Forget the debates on why Bob hates Republicans. It's really a red ants / black ants question to him. Animus, envy, and spite are his motivating forces -- he'll hate whomever he blames for his problems, and wish the worst on them while feeling justified in doing so.
And exactly how was Bob wronged? What unkindness was done to Bob that makes him wanting to burn the world? He has never explained this other in grandiose and unspecific terms. Let us look at what didn't happen to Bob:
He wasn't trafficked and made into a molested cat boy mule.
His dad didn't beat him or diddle him.
His mom didn't beat him or diddle him.
His priest didn't beat him or diddle him.
He's wasn't the elephant man and shunned and hidden away as a kid.
He wasn't trapped in some civil conflict and saw the worst of humanity.
He didn't suffer through an irl version of Come and See.
He wasn't on government assistance and having to poach rabbits to hopefully have meat in the kitchen and going hungry when the hunt didn't work out, all the while being mocked by bank managers.
His castle wasn't gleefully burnt down with his whole family in it by the citizens of Lynn in active revolution against his reign.
He was just a middle class sped that seemingly no one liked, probably because he acted like he was better and smarter than everyone else. I have to imagine that he acted the same way he does now because we can go back ten years and see him spouting out the same drivel. We know from his own book that he was a little shit who tried to out smart his therapist. He's also tweeted about being disappointed that his parents never put him in the advanced or accelerated classes, nevermind his own admission that he got poor grades, because he knew he belonged there and laments at what might have been. There is no evidence that Bob has progressed since childhood besides growing his verbal lexicon which isn't impressive because even
I know what lexicon means.
I would love to know what set Bob off to be forever tilting at these windmills but it will probably just turn out that he's an angry sped with delusions of grandeur that is just raging at his own impotence, literally and figuratively.
