I'm pretty good with cooking. I'm about on par with Homer Simpson when it comes to baking unless I follow a recipe to the letter.
No shame in that..... recipes exist for a reason... that's like apologizing for getting to the correct location by following a map..... if you can do it without the map, good for you, but no sane person expects a human being to be born knowing how to make a pound cake on instinct.
I wonder if they're trying to follow a recipe and failing at it due to an inability to have reading comprehension? Or to look up a term they don't understand? "Fold"? What's that mean? We're not doing laundry. Must be a typo, on to the next step.
Is it laziness? You have to mix until everything's combined, but after 2 or so twirls of the spoon, that's enough for Bob, everything SHOULD just go together, having to work it for a few minutes to the right consistancy? That's how it was done years ago, but we're in the 21st Century, the fact I have to use a spoon AT ALL instead of just add a few drops of water to a dehydrated little pill on the counter to make actual cake is the REAL laziness here! Darn mayoghouls, holding us back from Jetson's-style food-on-demand!
Or are they just winging it and tossing eggs and flour in a bowl and thinking "that's how they do it on TV, so what else is needed?"
