The Orthodox Church and lots of anti-Soviet right-wingers thought that post-Soviet Russia would look like Tsarist Russia and that people would cry out for Orthodoxy, autocracy and nationality.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you see it) 70 years of state atheism had a massive impact on the average Russian and most Russians don't really care about the Orthodox Church or see it as just being a part of their national identity, a bit like how some people in the UK view the Church of England, instead of genuinely following its precepts. Part of this is because the Orthodox Church collaborated with the Soviet Union and was to some extent subverted by the state, part of this is because after the fall of the USSR it aligned itself with the right in Russia by doing things like canonising Tsar Nicholas II as "St Nicholas the Passion-Bearer", and part of this is because Russia was very much an atheist nation by the 1990's and people saw no reason to show any interest in religion.

Also, the fact that later on, the Orthodox Church became rather corrupt like it was during Nicholas 2nd era, to the point it pretty much became a running joke for Russia along with topics of Russian politicians from the 90's all the way to the early 2000's. Hell, this is why the show "Puppets" was so damn popular during the 90's itself.

I never really disagree with Bob being Gen X, Mainly because when I was leaving high school, in the early 2010s I was taught a millennial was any person born during the late 20th century, but turned 18 years old after the new millennium, So born during the years 1982-1999. (I know that change the definition later in the 2010s and made zoomers start around 1997 I think). So I never had a problem with bobo seeing himself as gen X since I think he was born in 81.
