Man, Hitchcock is great. I remember when I was in high school we did a unit where we listened to and watched a bunch of old horror and mystery movies and radioplays. I loved Rear Window, I also really fondly remember Rope, though I haven't re-watched it since.

Manchurian Candidate is one I'll have to put on the list, seeing as I use the term enough that I should probably see the film at some point.
I think The Trouble With Harry is one of Hitchcock's most underrated films. The autumn New England scenery is gorgeous and the glibness of the whole affair gives the film a really creepy vibe.

If you're on an old movie kick, I'd recommend A Man For All Seasons. About a government official (and friend) of King Henry the VIII who gets cancelled for not supporting his divorce. It seems extremely relevant to our times, especially when the main character cucking and dropping his principles seems like such a no-brainer thing to do in our secular age. Would you be willing to give up your power, status, wealth, family and life for the sake of your own immortal soul? Maybe the fact that few people in our day and age would do that explains the mess we're currently in.

In what way has a Trump supporter personally impacted Bob's life in any appreciable way? Could he be referring to his old boss at the public access network who he got fired by because he trashed The Passion Of The Christ (from what I recall, his boss took offense to that because he was a devout Christian and Bob claimed that he had a gun on him during a confrontation in his van IIRC)?
Like so many of Bob's other tales, this one reeks of bullshit as well. Him being fired from the public access TV show because his boss was a super fundamentalist Christian who threatened Bob with a gun is probably what Bob tells people to puff himself up and self-reinforce his "Believers=stupid/evil" mantra. The reality is probably that Bob is as much an aggravating piece of shit in real life as he is on Twitter, and that Bob fedora-tipping about Passion in a typical Bob manner was just the final straw for this guy and gave him an excuse to finally cut ties.

It's 99% certain to be total horseshit, but I leave that 1% possibility because it's entirely believable that Bob would incense someone to the point of drawing a weapon on him.

It's a testament to civilization as a whole that Bob can survive for over 40 years now and not have been beaten to death for any number of the obnoxious, ignorant, hate-filled things he's said. Truly, humanity has one hell of a sense of restraint.

On Brainless Bobby's tale of getting removed from a TV station and the show runner being a lunatic? I give it about 50/50 on it being fake vs real but embellished.

Why give him that much benefit of the doubt? Because a lot of cranks used to be able to start up small local shows, and I could believe a fundie film reviewer went kind of nuts when Brainlet Bob decided to show how Euphoric he was over the Passion. A lot of crazy fucking people could get onto local access, and some people don't seem crazy initially too. So it's semi-plausible this was the case.

But then Bob lies like he eats; a lot and poorly. So he could just be lying again to rationalize why he got canned, even though the smarter option would've just been to just go "Yeah, I got canned from the place. Turned out that the show was struggling hard on numbers and wasn't long for this world. It went out after a few more episodes, and that's how things go".

But that doesn't make him cool and more awesome than the loser neverwas he really is. So in goes that nutbar story.

If Bob had any self-awareness, he’d realize that that very fact is enough to disprove his whole “people are innately stupid/bigoted/cruel” worldview: if that were really the case, he’d be pulverized by now. But that would involve him admitting that maybe he’s the stupid/bigoted/cruel one and not the virtuous fighter for progress he sees himself as. Which, let’s face it, short of some near-death experience or other life-altering event, is never going to happen.

If we lived by that, our population would be a hell of a lot thinner.

Hilariously, Bob's often described some other films in his reviews as "x plus A Man For All Seasons".

Which is Ironic, since Bob thinks that The MAGAnaise Ghouls want to pulverize him, and if not him, definitely his sped niece, troon cousin, gay cousin/friend-of-the-family (through Chippa), and all Chris's best blek friends, the blek twitter followers, and all his Angels on twitter. So he thinks that he's being protective of those people (his niece in particular), but the bottom line is, he believes people are innately stupid, bigoted, and cruel, because HE is stupid, bigoted, and cruel.

Eugenics Robert strikes again!

>"Some of you really, truly, HONESTLY want to salvage these... things".

I wonder what Roberts final solution to deal with the MAGAs is? Surely it would be anything unethical. After all there are no bad tactics, only bad tactics,
I had to.

I assume that Bob remembers it as the guy being a Christian and him not liking the movie was about that, when in reality, Bob likely didn't pay attention to the film while watching it, and got so much shit wrong that the guy realized what an idiot Bob was and threw him out.

I imagine it's something like a disagreement over the review led the guy to realize that Bob was useless and not providing anything he needed since any idiot could produce the type of reviews Bob does as proven by literally all the idiots who do.

The gun was probably holstered the entire time and never even touched.

Threatening people over opinions he disagrees with is the type of thing Bob wishes he had the real world balls to do. When he takes his parody gun to the range (well, back before he became a permanent shut-in thanks to the TRUMPER TRASH creating COVID) he probably imagines shooting it at Mayo Ghouls, Snyder Cultists and Glenn Greenwald. "You are not a person!" *BLAM* *BLAM* "You are not a person!" *BLAM* *BLAM* *BLAM*

I had to.

I have to comment on the photo note to anyone and everyone if staging a protest never have a fat person stand behind your hunger sign.

I'm nearing forty and I've always hated disney. My four year old brain acknowledged how unfunny the legacy of mickey and co. cartoons are. IE: Disney Comedy- Donald Duck rolls down a hill and becomes a snowman. Huey, Dewey, Louis laugh at him.
Looney Tunes Comedy- Elmer Fudd blasts Daffy at shotgun range and his bill spins around.
I'm in my 40s, and I'm of a similar mindset. I don't watch vintage Disney much (if at all) any more, but that's a direct result of limited accesibility on broacast/cable TV, not out of hatred toward the brand (if you start playing any of those Goofy sports shorts, I'll be there ASAP).

...without Bob the average human fatness would drop noticeably.
And humanity's average IQ would increase several dozen points.

A Man For All Seasons is about Sir Thomas Moore and is less about divorce and King Henry VIII granting himself more powers by founding the Church of England. Sir Thomas is a saint and martyr in the Catholic Church, he’s also regarded as influential in Communism for his book Utopia. Funnily enough Moore was on Moscow’s Obelisk of Revolutionary Thinkers.

It’s odd that Bob would praise the movie as there is a very good scene about why we give our enemies the benefit of the law.

EDIT: Utopia is an interesting piece of satire. It’s in Latin and describes a communistic society with literal slaves. The entire thing is basically a retarded society that can’t function because of how retarded it is.

A little bit of gun-sperging and trivia about the film, the assassin's rifle that Laurence Harvey's character uses in The Manchurian Candidate is a Japanese Type 2 paratrooper's rifle. Japanese airborne troops would actually jump with their rifle broken down into two pieces and have to assemble it once they reached the ground.

As with every time Bob mentions the film, I don't actually think he's seen it. I don't think he's seen the play or read the script.

In Utopia, its basically a police state, so you can see why the Soviets took that shit to heart.

Bob probably sees himself as the protagonist of his own movie, and since the only movies he likes are capeshit, therefore sees himself as the heroic Captain America that's there to protect the weak and under trodden from the cartoonish Nazi villains.

And since the villains are irredeemable and he's the hero, nothing he says, does, or thinks can be wrong.

Bob reminds me of this speech from Shadow of a Doubt (mainly the "But they're alive, they're human beings!" "Are they?" part).
