Bob thinks the backbone of the US economy is Hollywood movies and that all the important food in the country is grown exclusively in California. An adult who doesn't have terminal Dunning Kruger Disorder would know that: 1) the success of Hollywood movies is a byproduct of how strong the US economy is, not the reason for it. and All of that money flows directly into the pockets of film studios and nowhere else. And 2) despite producing the highest amount of food, California's food production only accounts for 13% of the nation's supply.
His general impression that California is a paradise that sits as the beating heart of "The America That Matters ™" also ignores that:
1) It has the highest homeless population of any state in the union.
2) It has the 5th lowest average IQ per person.
3) It has the 3rd highest rate of wealth inequality.
4) In spite of, or perhaps because of these problems, it's the 4th most expensive state to live in, with the cost of basic essentials like gas, electricity, housing and food totally unsustainable for people with ordinary incomes.
If California seceded, it couldn't outlast CHAZ.

To be completely fair, those numbers are only true because of two coastal shit holes named San Francisco and Los Angeles. The rest of California is nothing but mountains, deserts, and farmlands with much smaller cities in between. If you remove those two places California would be indistinguishable from your average red state.
Bob does not simp for California, he simps for the IDEA of California. A fantasy land where the intelligently successful elite like him have righteous cultural and economic hegemony over their lessers. It's the same reason why he praises New York or China. Remember when he once thought that the US should've "Manhattanized" all of NY State back in 2014? He practically fetishizes city life despite the fact he has never lived anywhere other than suburbia.
