I think that's why the book received its reputation, though. Do you really want to read a book about a manchild's "troubled" childhood and how he found Nintendo as his religion and Mario as its prophet? The book is Bob's biography and it's boring as fuck.

...actually, I probably would read that book, if it was well-written, interesting, maintained a good sense of humor about the whole thing, and, you know, if the protagonist wasn't as unlikable as Blob. It sounds like an excellent parody of the culture of brand worship so prevalent these days.

Watching people play video games is half the Internet now, and even before it was on Youtube half the players in the country had a kid -- usually a little brother -- who was watching over their shoulder. If they were just doing it to wait their turn, LPers would still be unemployed.

Mario 3 is becoming retroactively tainted for me, I was talking about it with someone yesterday and all I could think about was moviebobs pathetic obsession. He's managed as one person what the entire sonic fan base did.
